Returning to School Delphry Williams ENG 121 Stephanie Freese September 30, 2013 Returning to School I made the decision to return to school to further my education about young children, and children with special needs and to earn my Early Childhood Education Administration degree. The benefits that I will be obtaining from my college degree will be receiving better pay and to be in a better position to open my own childcare program one day. In the year of two thousand five I worked at a childcare center for the mentally ill. I worked there for almost twenty years before the owner decided to sale to another owner. My long term goals are: To follow my dream, to own my own home and to meet a positive companion. These are goals I intend to achieve in the next couple of years. In order to succeed academically I have to stay focused at home and in school. By managing how much television I watch per day and limiting how often I hangout , it will give me more time to study and increase my chances of receiving all my credits and passing each semester. Completing my homework without procrastinating and using my resources such as my teachers when I need help are methods I use to accomplish this short term goal.
I would have to say that my parents and grandmother were my significant others in my life. My parents were part of the working class, proletariat, and had the means to provide my brother and I with anything we needed. They also introduced the norms to me that were acceptable and unacceptable. Soon enough, by the age of 8 years old I was able to grasp a concept of my culture. I also began grasp the symbols that were apparent all around me As I started middle school I quickly realized that it was a new environment, and that I was outsider.
For example, I would host a family day where the students can bring their parent s to school for the day. I would also spend time with my students outside of class like attending recreational, sporting, and birthday parties to bond with them on a more personal level. 2. I will support and encourage my students and teach them how to love and care for one another. In my classroom, I would promote a loving environment

I create a loving and trusting environment by being warm and responsive to their needs. I use a gentle touch and a soft voice as I redirect them. My co-teacher and I work together on their individual and routine schedules, such as napping, eating and diapering. I talk with the parents about their thoughts on childrearing and try to use the ones that are appropriate for our classroom. I strive to organize my classroom environment and schedule to prevent problems.
Ethics, on the other hand, are how we actually do behave in the face of difficult situations that test our moral fiber” (para. 1). Specific personal values and ethical standards My values started in childhood as I learned from my parents, my older sister, and brother. As I got older I gained more values from going to school, church with neighbors, and friends. I grew up in a middle-class family where my father was factory worker and my mother worked for the school district as a custodial aide.
Children also learn how to solve problems and assign household responsibilities and help each other through positive and negative issues. Children who have consistency and stability in there lives are more likely to behave positively and do well in school. Nuclear families are financially stable and are able to provide the children with greater opportunities and luxuries. Extended families are families who have three or more generations living together in the same house and are not of direct blood line consisting of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Extended families workloads are shared amongst members and the woman roles are often restricted to housewives and this involves cooking, cleaning and organising the entire household.
