P4 – Reasons behind choice of media in a successful promotional campaign Introduction – Coca Cola Share a Coke Campaign The campaign that I will be talking about is the Coca Cola enterprise “Share a coke campaign”. This campaign got numerous of people sharing and talking about this specific campaign because it was generally based on the customers and it also increased the consumption of the brand over the summer holidays. The share a coke campaign was basically done by swapping the logo on the bottles with 250 of the most popular names in the UK, this type of advertisement was based on the emotions of getting friends and family sharing a coke with their names on them. This was done by customers using social media such as Twitter and Facebook, this worked because the customers would post images and videos of their name in the coke bottle to using the social network. This was a success because a lot of people had basically advertised the product for the company by sharing images on the internet for other people to see and get attracted to it. The third promotional objective the company wanted people to not only consume the product but also love it as a brand. This done by using types of media such as pop up personalisation booths, which allowed people to customize their own coca cola bottles by putting their own name on it and other features. This was done on the internet where people had access to do so, also when the customers were done consuming the product they will be able to keep it and using as decorations or the personal use in the future. One of their ads was the billboards which displayed images and information about their campaign. As you may know, this type of ad was quite flexible because the company were able to place it in their market areas. This means that coca cola placed their billboards in areas where their target audience were most likely to purchase their product. Another type of media that was flexible were their TV ads, TVs were flexible for advertisement because you are able add things to it such as sounds text and images. The company was also able to advertise their product using various approaches such as emotional settings; this is where types of adverts catches the consumer feelings allowing them to be involved or allowing them to purchase a product based on emotions.
