Human Resources The Human resources can improve the H&M’s performance in many ways. There are two main processes which are looked at when managing human resources. • Recruitment: H&M must manage this carefully to make sure that they get the right staff for the job, looking at all their CV’s in detail and asking the acceptable questions in interviews is very important and, as a result, will help the organisation run efficiently, have a better performance and provide customers better service. • Staff welfare: This is also very important and H&M manages this by looking after staff and making sure they are all treated equally and that no one is discriminated for whatever reason. Having an environment where everyone is treated fairly will result in employees of H&M feel more valued, happy and more willing to give a better service.
It is very important to ensure that all staff members have the necessary skills and have undertaken suitable developmental activities to complete the work they are given. As a manager it is important to look over and carefully calculate the time and cost on a regular basis to make sure it’s cost effective so the organization isn’t losing money. Having regular consultations (meetings, brainstorming sessions, project groups etc.) are also highly expected from a manager as it provides prompt and constructive feedback to the employee. Which will help to suggest improvements that will increase resource efficiency and effectiveness; as employees use resources everyday to get there job done and will know what works and what doesn’t.

I should always keep people informed about progress as they may need to know about changes in targets as it allows them to make amendments to the way they handle their work, if they are not informed it may affect their working abilities. The purpose of letting other people know work plans need to be changed is so they can plan sufficient timescales and it gives them time to adapt to the new changes. By giving them notice it increases their chances of completing the task more efficiently and to an expectable standard. The purpose and benefits of recognising and learning from mistakes is so I know where I have gone wrong and I am able to prevent the mistake from happening again. The purpose and benefits of taking on new challenges if they arise is so I am able to put myself to the test by using my strengths and strengthening my weaknesses, this helps me achieve self growth opportunities and gain new skills to use in more challenging situations.
The reason this is important is so you can make changes to how you work that lead to continuous improvement in the way you provide services. Reflective practice can be an important tool in practice based professional learning settings where individuals learning from their own professional experiences, rather than from formal teaching or knowledge transfer, may be the most important source of personal professional development improvement. Should an employee not gain knowledge of any new information on practices, they are liable for any future errors, which could lead to a potential safeguarding issue bought upon them. An employee that continually improves on their knowledge of the sector, policies, procedures, the organisation in which they work for and their job role, is showing a great work ethic and an ideal role model for other colleagues and team members. An employee working within the health and social care sector should also be aware of their personal abilities and where professional development is needed. An employee should ensure that they are fully trained in their particular job role and should there be any changes to their role or the organisation, an employee should include themselves in the re-training process. For example, my role as a Care Supervisor has currently undergone a split in the role, bringing on a support supervisor to take on half of the role's daily tasks.
An employee also needs to develop the capacity or the skills to perform or work. Another important aspect of performance management is to periodically rate the performance of each and every employee or team member. A good way to keep employees motivated and performing well is to reward the good performance of each employee who does well. Planning work for any organization is very important. It is very important for the work to be planned out in advance to ensure success.
Assertiveness: Assertiveness is one of the key essential skills in the modern working environment which means standing up for what you want, stating your needs clearly and expressing opposition where possible. However, be mindful that your aim is to solve the problem and get the best result and not to be seen as being aggressive. Being faced with situation such as managing difficult tenant/service users/staff, dealing with aggressive people such as drug users, mental health, or bullying at work etc. policy and procedures should be in place to handle individual situation. If handled correctly, there are benefits when assertiveness is applied such as: better time management, increased self esteem and the ability to negotiate more effectively.
Unit 2 – Promote Professional development 1.1 Explain the importance of continually improving knowledge and practice Continually improving knowledge and practice is an essential component in continuing organisational success. Professional development enables organisations to change to meet the current demands of the services they provide. Professional development is ongoing throughout professional careers to enhance their skills and knowledge. It is important for me as a professional to continually improve my knowledge so I can continue to work within the guidelines of the policies and procedures set within the organisation I work in along with following the current legislation and the standards within my work setting. When having undertaken training it is important to feedback this knowledge to my colleagues to provide up to date accurate information in order for them to full fill their roles, this is shared during weekly team meetings when time has been allocated for this purpose.
