On the other hand, offering a better policy for remaining workers may conflict with the cost-cutting effort, but satisfying workers can benefit company’s long-run business. Conveying these messages plays an important role in company’s success. If the company has a good solution, it can soften the anger of those who get fired, and make the remaining workers work effectively. However, an ineffective solution can depress people who are fired and worry the remaining employees, so it may create an ineffective working environment. Alternatives The company has at least two alternatives to deal with this problem.
2.3 Describe how own values, belief systems and experiences may affect working practice? • Everyone has different values/beliefs/preferences what you believe in, what you see as important, acceptable or desirable is an essential part of who you are. • React positively to people who share your values and less warmly to people who have different priorities. • When you develop friendships, it is natural to spend time with people who share your interests and values. • Professional relationships you develop with people you support are another matter; you are required to provide the same quality support for all, not just for those who share your views and beliefs.
This unit covers communication issues which learners may themselves have experienced, such as, urgently seeking information only to find that they are unable to understand what they have been given because it is full of jargon and technical terms, or struggling to explain what they need or want, finding it hard to choose words to make the person they are speaking to understand. They will learn that this could be how a person seeking support or information from a worker in one of the four sectors of children and young people’s workforce, health, community justice and adult social care could feel if the worker they were dealing with was not able to communicate effectively with them. Learners will also consider why and how organisations in the four sectors share information and work together to support and help individuals and communities. They will look at how the organisations in the partnership decide what information needs to be shared and when and how it is shared. Learners will also look into how information about individuals should be recorded and might be passed between different organisations or within teams, why this is necessary and what may happen to that
Imagine if everyone in the workplace was not able to determine when their co-workers were having a bad day, whether they were feeling sad, angry, stressed out, or just having a bad day. It is essential that people are able to express their emotions in a healthy and positive way, but it is extremely important that people are able to determine when other people are emotional and be empathetic to their needs. Emotional intelligence is the concept of being able to recognize, control and evaluate emotions. Some researchers believe that emotional intelligence can be learned, but others believe it is something people are born with. Furthermore, some researchers believe that possessing emotional intelligence is somewhat more important than having a high IQ.
Misunderstanding has been quite common among some people dealing in business hence reducing the efficiency of work in those businesses, (Blue). Any kind of business will come up with a mission during its initiation and establishment; however, these missions that are normally formulated are only effective and can be implemented when the people in the business relate well through communicating with each other well and understanding each other.
It enhances employee responsiveness and commitment to work since they know that they will be held accountable for their job failure or success. While employee autonomy is seen to benefit employees and employers, the resulting effect could be counter-productive depending on the amount of autonomy. Too much of everything is bad, and I believe that it is common practice for people to misuse opportunities when there is no control. Employee autonomy can become a problem in instances where an employee feels that he/she is beyond control. Employee autonomy can decrease job efficiency due to lack of supervision coupled with the fact that employees are working at their pace.

Despite the less experience that the younger workers have, they perform more productive working performance compared to older workers, as older workers would need to deal with their physical challenge. In most cases, age discrimination in the workplace can be directly related to ageism in the society. Ageism is a type of prejudice that is leveled against people because of the sole feature of their age rather than about getting to know the person as a complex human being. Often when they have prejudiced attitudes, people will determine that everyone in a certain group defined often by physical characteristics is going to act the same way. One source of ageist attitudes therefore is prejudice against
QUESTION 2: Identify some challenges that diversity at the workplace might bring. ANSWER There are challenges to managing a diverse work population. Managing diversity is more than simply acknowledging differences in people. It involves recognizing the value of differences, combating discrimination, and promoting inclusiveness. Managers may also be challenged with losses in personnel and work productivity due to prejudice and discrimination and complaints and legal actions against the organization (Devoe, 1999).
Understanding and managing multicultural teams is important to let the organization achieve results and success. Unless every individual in a team with different cultures adapts to a particular organizational environment, the organization cannot move in the right direction and obtain profits. If an individual is not able to accommodate himself with the other culture, then he may go into a cultural shock which might be portrayed as high level of anxiety, isolation and also lack of performance on the job. So, it becomes necessary to manage across the multicultural teams not only to show good performance on the job but also to stay cool, calm and work on a stress free environment. 1.
