As a carer I am aware that I need to be able to understand the ways in which I can make it easier to communicate with someone who has dementia. It will become difficult for a person to tell you if they are in pain, if they are frightened or upset, so by using other factors such as body language, eye contact, gestures, facial expressions, I am able to determine these things and then I can communicate back to the individual calmly and slowly, in a manner that is appropriate to them. 1.3 Describe how to support different communication abilities and needs of an individual with dementia who has a sensory
Accepting the substance abuse issue will allow one to accept counseling. Once, a client has confronted the situation and accepted treatment it is important for the client to attempt to disengage themselves from the substance abuse and the behaviors that re caused or affected by it. Family support is important during the recovery process, however the support does not stop with just family; it is also essential for there to be support from friends. A good support system also has an impact on the family recovery process. When a client is recovery, the recovery process does not just affect the client but those around them are affected as well, which is why there is the community reinforcement and family training.
2.2 It could be that the individual no longer wants to use a walking aid but their care plan states they need it to move around. I would carry out a risk assessment to ensure that it is managed as safely as possible and inform the individual of the risks involved and make sure they understand. 2.3 I would speak to other team members or senior staff for advice. I could also look at my policies and procedures for help. I could also ask their family and friends, GP, care professionals, advocates.
If further breakdown occurs, social processes will take place, whereby friends and family will offer advice and support. After having left the relationship, grave-dressing processes will commence. Partners strive to construct a representation of the relationship that does not paint their own contribution to the relationship unfavourably. This process often involves emotional distress. In the final resurrection process, each partner prepares for new relationships by learning from the mistakes of the prior relationship.
This I feel could help a person suffering from loss and grief as they are allowed to grief for the loss they have suffered in their own personal way with just the right amount of support from the counsellor. Therefore the person grieving will be able to accept and act on their own personal and internal evaluations of the event that has taken place. Carl Rogers said that a person will go wherever they want to go, that each person is unique. Modern theorists suggest the process needs to be geared towards the individual, and not the stages of the process its self, that it is the clients own coping strategies that work best. This can make life appear meaningless and lead to depression. Stress can also affect relationships greatly. If one partner is over stressed, they can react unreasonably to the other person and be quite difficult to deal with. This can act like a chain reaction whereby the stress the person is under causes them to behave badly with their partner which can lead to more rows and arguments. These in turn can lead to more stress within the relationship for both parties.

This is where the mindset of “do
We can also utilise these responses to help us perform at a higher level. Some people find it difficult to perform at their optimum level unless they are under a certain amount of pressure. This pressure although self induced creates stress and anxiety though hopefully only enough to achieve the required results. Anxiety and stress become a problem when they start to be detrimental to a person. That is to say when they impede a person’s progress and /or start to dictate the things we choose to do, or in some cases they can get to such an elevated level that they cause health issues.
Three basic skills to empathetic understanding are paraphrasing, summarizing, and encouraging. Showing empathy lets the client know that the counselor understands and truly cares about their well-being. This paper will discuss how active listening is used in a therapeutic setting, give personal examples of active listening and describe ways it can be improved. Avoiding interruption is equally important as empathetic understanding. If a client gets “cut off” midway through a statement, it can either cause them to forget what they are saying or make them feel insignificant.
