It is full of surprises that make you want to keep reading to figure out what is going to happen next. Gene Wolfe does a great job in being able to relate this book to all ages and all
Pete Ms. Issasi English 1302 10 June 2008 E1A: Lottery and Omelas At first glance the town in The Lottery would seem to be a wonderful place to live, beautiful scenery, kind townspeople, and a peaceful atmosphere. The story takes place on a summer morning that is described as a day only pictured in an old tall tale. With children playing around and giggling to themselves at the town square, the adults begin to gather mingling amongst themselves but never becoming to loud. There was actually a great foreshadowing of the entire story that lead to the horrible scene of the stoning, but was brilliantly disguised by what seemed like normal behaviors, actions, and descriptions. Even to the point of the actual stoning was apparently treated as their usual conspiracy that jus simply takes place.
Richard Wright’s criticism is right in the ballpark and I completely agree with it. In this book there was no central theme or idea, not one considerable humanistic thought or implication. This book did contain some good situations to learn from but nothing that persuades or changes the reader’s view, let alone life. A good fictional book has all of these qualities and more, something to make the reader doubt what they knew before, to make them question human thought and behavior and to make them learn or believe in a cause pointed out in that book. This is a fun dramatic story that lets the audience laugh and cry with Janie and her friends, but fails to deliver in the way of explaining the characters actions through the analysis of human nature.
Next what I interpret from the commercial was it was made to entertain by making you laugh. To make you want to see this commercial again and again leading to you talk about it to your friends who lead their friends and so on, to making it popular. It used a situation like an environment where you think it’s all about work and no play by making it funny. Entertaining you to make you want to talk about this commercial or want to go buy and drink a bud light. Finally what I interpret that it was made to inform you to show you bud light understand you that they can relate to your everyday life.
William Hazlitt writes a nifty little persuasive essay known as On going a journey. The tittle itself could not be any clear to the essence that follows; this essay is merely about the ability to enjoy oneself while committing to a journey rather than the whiles of life or the disturbance of another human being. Hazlitt makes it clear from the beginnings of his essay that travelling is a pleasurable experience when done by ones lonesome when Hazlitt (1994) stated, “One of the pleasantest things in the world is going on a journey; but I like to go by myself(para. 1)”. Hazlitt suggests that person that might want to make the most of ones journey should consider a few conditions, travel with no partner this offers less stress and he emphasizes
He is friends with all the other characters, but is still very observant to their lifestyle. Owl Eyes is another character that sees things as they really are. He discovered that the books in Gatsby's library were "real." Other characters, like Gatsby, only see the past, or characters like Daisy and Jordan only see their own little world and are trapped in it. Its like a haze-they walk around in it because its comfortable, but they fail to realize what is going on outside their social circle, and often times they don't understand their own comfort zone.
Family time does not need to be an expensive day at a park or zoo but time spent laughing and talking. Keeping a journal of feelings, events, problems whether they are good are bad. The journal can help express your feeling as not to hurt others but also to help you express your problems with them in a more effective way. An Anger Jar, take pieces of paper and write down when you are angry or upset and put the paper in the jar. When the jar is full the family can dispose of it the way the feel best suited, putting the papers in a fire place to burn, ripping them to shreds, etc.
These were the little statements such as “Sorry weirdos-I love you, but she has a point.” or, “Sadly, I couldn’t get anyone to connect with me-for some reason, nobody wanted me to track their every movement?” These are small humorous additions to the story that without them the story is still great but with them it keeps the reader wanting to read more and even though small, they are a large help to Honan’s story and he does a nice job of adding them in places they fit and not just throwing them in randomly throughout his writing. In conclusion, Mathew Honan does a lot of things right when righting this story, He makes a few mistakes like including too much of his personal life and telling the world that his wife will be home alone for a week, but what he does right including making himself relevant in the beginning of the story, using his personal experiences Hale 4 effectively and making the reader want to read more, and I definitely believe that the things Honan does right in the story without a doubt trump the things he did not do right. No one can write a perfect story, there will always be small changes that could take place, but Mathew Honan did a wonderful job with his essay “I Am Here”. It was not only informational; it told a story and was even funny and quirky at times. He certainly wrote a story that kept the reader reading and I would say that is what is most
I have lots of friends in Brasilia, and we used to hang out every weekend, and when we had nothing to do, they’d come over to my place so we could watch movies and play some games. I made two friends when I moved here and they are the only ones I got until today. It’s very different from the reality I used to live in Brazil, but it is not a bad thing. I think I am learning how to handle myself and it is great. There are lots of amazing places here that I can go, the beaches are great, the food is marvelous and things are just so cheap that makes me want to by everything I see.
Individuals mainly travel to enjoy new views and experiences new memories. But, if people applied the appropriate behavior to their environment they would be able to enjoy new views and create new memories in their own atmosphere without traveling. Alain de Botton describes that weather we go far away or stay at home the enjoyment will be the same as long as we are looking to experience things in an optimistic way and recalls, “We meet people who have crossed desserts, floated on ice caps and cut their way though jungles—and yet in whose souls we would search in vain for evidence of what they have witnessed” (de Botton, 65). The people, who travel, fail to recognize the value of jungles or adventures they have in their own surroundings to fulfill their enjoyment, when for instance, they could have fulfilled it in their own neighborhood or environment by setting the same exact goals they have set to accomplish to their
