From Brazil to the United States Moving to the United States about five months ago was probably the biggest change that ever happened in my life. I was very excited about everything: new culture, new people, new house, and new school. I lived my whole life in Brasilia, Brazil, and having the opportunity to come to the United States to study is everybody’s dream. The quality of the education here is the best one, and having that in your curriculum makes doors open in a much easily way anywhere you go from here. At first T couldn’t wait to move, but as the moving day got closer and closer I got really scared. Everything was new and exciting. However, as time passed by, I felt really lonely and started missing my friends really bad. That is certainly the worst part about moving to another country: your social life gets really affected by that. I was always an easy person to become friends with, so I thought that wouldn’t be a problem for me here, but unfortunately I was wrong. I have lots of friends in Brasilia, and we used to hang out every weekend, and when we had nothing to do, they’d come over to my place so we could watch movies and play some games. I made two friends when I moved here and they are the only ones I got until today. It’s very different from the reality I used to live in Brazil, but it is not a bad thing. I think I am learning how to handle myself and it is great. There are lots of amazing places here that I can go, the beaches are great, the food is marvelous and things are just so cheap that makes me want to by everything I see. I have to work on my self-control so I don’t spend all my money in one day. And people are very polite, all the time. Not that in Brazil we are not like that, but it is good to see that people are nice here
