They were shining so brightly, luckily, there being no moon to illuminate the warm, breezy county of Maycomb, Alabama. The sun had set early just like it did every year this time around, reminding us it would soon be winter and the bitter chill that was a package deal with it. Never do I go outside to get the full effect. But on this October evening I hear a scuffle to my right and what I believe to be bickering. I glance out my window. I reached the Finches front yard where Atticus rushed down the steps and assisted me in carrying Jem inside. Walking swiftly, we pass his sister, Miss Alexandra. She runs to the door after our passing and there she finds Scout. We reach Jem’s room as Miss Alexandra tells scout to call Dr. Reynolds. Atticus yells to her asking where Scout is. I pick myself up and sit myself into a corner in Jem’s room. I try to process what has just occurred while Atticus contacted the doctor and sheriff and Miss Alexandra has freed scout from her outfit of disheveled pork. Moments later, Dr. Reynolds arrived, working on Jem, sighing here and there. I didn’t realize the doctor had left the room until Scout and Mr. Tate had entered, surveying the scene.
