Theme for Art: Spiritual Awakening/Enlightenment

The theme I have chosen to work with this semester is "Spiritual Awakening/ Enlightenment". Through this theme I would like to illustrate the progression of inner enlightenment and the connection someone feels while experiencing this; a unity of soul with everything. Awakening is something that arises from within that makes one feel more at peace within themselves, other people, and the universe on a deeper and higher level. Spiritual awakening helps connect you to an awareness of what is happening around you and in your life experience. The reasoning behind my interest in this topic is simple: this has recently been a huge development in my own life. The process of opening yourself up to a higher consciousness brings such an intense feeling of freedom that almost nothing could compare. It is something people have been doing since ancient times but modern society rejected. Now spiritual enlightenment is in renaissance since the 21st century. Nowadays negative energy is being hurled at us from every direction. One needs only to turn on the new on television; Wars, national debt, crimes, etc. We have replaced being happy within ourselves with objects, money, greed, and selfishness. This is why enlightenment is so important. When our energies are aligned and in balance, we experience a much more real connection- like stated earlier- with everything in the universe. Not only that but our physical, mental, and emotional health, as the way we perceive things improves when feeling positive emotional conectiveness with the universe. Without this connection, I feel as though I'd still be stuck in a dark mind set. The issues and ideas I wanted to channel and explore into my future artworks is mostly along the lines of what spiritual awakening is displayed in pictures and images to show the feelings and experiences that come along with it and how your perspective on many
