Check Point 1: Positive Psychology Themes Positive Psychology, in contrast, is concerned with the enhancement of happiness and well-being, involving the scientific study of the role of personal strengths and positive social systems in the promotion of optimal well-being. The central themes of Positive Psychology, include; happiness, hope, creativity and wisdom. To define them would be one’s own personal account and how they perceive each in their daily lives. I will take a look at all four from my perspective and define them as they are told to us from an early age of our lives. Happiness can mean several different things; joy, cheerful, bliss and hopeful. For some people, the definition of happiness seems to be avoiding pain at all costs. The problem with defining happiness seems to be an epidemic disparity with what it means to be happy. There is no one way to define this state of being we are all craving to reach. It is as if it depends on what level of for example Maslow’s hierarchy of self-growth. Then the definition of happiness also expands and deepens as we move up and grow. Hope along with happiness can also have different meanings; the dictionary’s meaning is to cherish a desire with anticipation. Hope gives us something to look forward to in life or in terms of different situations. For me without hope what do we have, it gives me a sense of direction it makes me work that much harder to achieve my goals. Creativity and wisdom, to me comes with age more wisdom then with creativity. Wisdom is something we learn with time we gain knowledge the older we become by our life’s experiences. Creativity, sometimes I feel us as adults lose focus on because of all the things that are going on in our lives. Being creative makes life more exciting, another thing I believe we lose as children is are sense of imagination, those two together
