Big businesses are releasing harmful chemicals into the atmosphere and oceans. As a result the ozone layers are thinning and creating unprecedented hotter climates in many regions that negatively affect the ecosystems that are not used to the increase in heat. So in Conclusion, David Suzuki’s theory that human civilization is in a war to save this planet is very justified and necessary especially at his day and age where the destruction of earth has become an all to real reality. If human beings have any chance of saving this world they must first work together not as people of different nations but as a world community in finding alternative environmentally safe energy sources to ensure the survival of the human race and wildlife for many more future
Gore also asserts that global warming is caused by over population. Toxins and chemicals in the atmosphere impact each individual in the world. Because of the effects of global warming, the strength of hurricanes can change easily and cause an enormous amount of
Whether you drive your car to work, turn on your light to illuminate a dark room or just watching television, you are burning using up energy that is being processed at a coal plant. Now that you know the enemy, let me inform you of its damage. Over the years, it’s been recorded that global warming has warmed up the entire planet causing water levels to rise; this may lead to devastating floods in costal cities all across the world. If that isn’t bad enough, we’re causing man made diseases with all the pollutants in the air. One such disease would be asthma, which takes the lives of 250,000 worldwide every year.
TMA 01, QUESTION1. Some of the most serious environmental issues today are climate change, air issue, waste and land pollution, over population and water issue. 1. Climate Change, is undeniable a global environmental concern that is triggering a rise in the amount of major natural disasters like floods and hurricanes; which causes destruction in societies and the regions which they effect. Global warming will only cause an increase in these issues along with additional problems that could eventually end this civilization, if we don’t work hard on improving our efforts on managing all the different types of pollution and waste that contributes to this major concern.
Introduction The events of September 11th 2001 have cause a major alteration in the world. After 9/11 many countries throughout the world have increased security in airports and country borders, and increased security in main areas of major cities. The biggest consequence of 9/11 however was the USA’s war on terror. The war on terror was started with the objective of recognizing, finding and destroying terrorists, denying sponsorships to terrorist organizations and defending people all over the world from future terrorist attacks. However, the USA’s war on terror has had a negative effect on many countries in the world as well as their own, and their citizens by creating animosity in the international community, causing a downturn in their own economy and their major allies, and ruining their international reputation.
David Zhang Ms. Khan ENG3U1-08 25 March 2012 Oryx and Crake: Climate Change Climate change is a tough subject for humans to deal with; ever since the Industrial Revolution, our dramatically increased consumption of energy over the century has brought about immense consequences. Abnormal weather conditions, an increased frequency of natural disasters, and rising sea levels are what many of us claim to be part of a “natural cycle”. However, it is no coincidence that we are on the wrong end of that “natural cycle”, and our behaviours and activities have only caused it to worsen. Climate change will worsen if we continue to disregard its existence and compromise with its consequences, rather than confronting the source of the issue and taking responsibility. Our irresponsibility could ultimately lead to the destruction of our world and civilization, as portrayed in “Oryx and Crake” by Margaret Atwood.
Modernity may cease with global warming as half the biggest companies are oil companies, and oil is the essence of life. Deforestation and the effects of global warming on our forests and trees are far-reaching and quite evident. All our planets physical features are changing rapidly. And McKibben repeats himself on purpose to get his point across: the planet we knew is no more, we live on a new, more complex and harsher
The economic growth has put too much stress on the nature. There are many types of environmental damage, and Mckibben examines climate change in the chapter. He points out that climate change is not some future specter and it’s already emerging as the biggest problem the world faces. He also insists that the richer people get, the dirtier the air is, and this is indeed one of the environmental destruction that he described in the chapter. Another destruction that he talks about is the global warming.
Environmental health Unit 38 P1 Explain how human activity can damages the environment For years now we have been warned about human activity destroying our planet and environment. Some of the things that humans are affecting are Climate Change, Depletion of Ozone Layer, Pollution, Deforestation and Extinction of Species. Overcrowding, urbanisation and population growth Overcrowding can affect our planet more than some people think, Overcrowding means more people this means we use more natural resources this means the earth in the end isn’t going to have enough resources to support the growing population. Remember every person on the planet takes up space which could be used for farmland, and forests. People excrete wastes and litter that flow into water systems, and animal habitats, this is slowly polluting water and killing wildlife.
Do you feel that our nation as a whole would be able to make the necessary changes and be successful if this were to become law? Myself, I have mixed emotions. If there were a time table set up to slowly phase out the automobiles from our country then we would have a greater chance of conforming to these new rulings. On the other hand, if this became effective immediately, I think we will be looking at catastrophic riots to begin with. Once the rioting starts to settle down, we would start to notice a substantial decline in our economy and a very negative effect on everyone’s mental
