“Hagrid: You're a wizard, Harry! Harry: I'm a what?” Sound familiar? This quote is from the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, written by J.K. Rowling. The first book in the Harry Potter series involves Harry finding out that he’s a wizard when Hagrid shows up on Harry’s birthday to take him to Hogwarts to go to school. The main difference between the book and the movie at this point is the title. The published book was originally titled “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”; however, the producers of the movie changed “Philosopher” to “Sorcerer.” The movie, directed by Chris Columbus, has an MPAA rating of PG for some scary moments and mild language and the overall rating is 7.2 stars out of 10. The movie consists of 152 minutes of magic! At only twelve years of age, Daniel Radcliffe portrays Harry as a spirited, friendly, courageous, and responsible young wizard. The first appearance of Hermione is always a favorite. Harry and Ron first meet on the train to Hogwarts and Hermione comes into their train car and is portrayed as overly confident and ridiculously talented and smart for a first year (and muggle blood). Hagrid is played by Robbie Coltrane and is shown as a giant, but he’s extremely loving and emotional at some points. Everyone in the Harry Potter series plays a crucial role, whether they’re shown on screen for a few seconds or the entire movie. In the book, Rowling describes each character in great detail,
