James Joseph Parsons was born on March 24th, 1973 in Houston, Texas. You may know Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper on the hit television show, “The Big Bang Theory.” His mom’s name is Judy Parsons and she is a school teacher. His sister, Julie is also a teacher and they happen to work in the same school. His dad, Jack, died in a car accident in 2001, but was the president of a plumbing company. Jim had his first stage appearance at age six in a school play as a bird. He graduated from Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas in 1991 where he went on to study theater at the University of Houston. In 1996, Jim earned his undergraduate degree in theatre. Later on, Jim won a place for a two year Master’s course at The Old Globe Theater at the University of San Diego. He graduated in 2001. Later, he moved to New York and worked in off-Broadway. After moving to New York, Jim had roles in a few commercials and one episode of a show named “Ed” (2000) before landing a role in “Judging Amy” in 2004. (IMDb) He has had several theatrical credits in shows like “Endgame”, “Guys and Dolls”, “What Happened Was”, and “The Balcony.” Jim was soon propelled into fame and three years later was cast has Sheldon Cooper in “The Big Bang Theory.” In 2011, Jim Parsons made his Broadway debut as Tommy Boatwright in “The Normal Heart.” He had also starred in the Muppets in the same year. With Jim Parsons being in all sorts of other roles in the past, everyone will always remember him being in “The Big Bang Theory.” He happens to be the biggest hit on that television show along with his other co-stars. On the show, Sheldon is a physicist who has 2 PHD’s and a Masters Degree. He loves certain TV shows, films, and comic book characters. Jim has little to none of the same interests as Sheldon.
