They help to set high standards for the school, plan the schools future and set targets for school improvements. School governors also make the school more accountable to the public and help the school be responsive to the community and needs of parents. The senior management team is made up of a head teacher and deputy head teacher. In larger schools this includes the senior teachers, school business manager and the special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO). Their role is to lead any changes, set the strategic direction and make sure the school is doing the best for the children and staff.
There are so many intricacies involved in the process; nevertheless, people are the most important element in creating justice for all, regardless of social status, color of skin, English language barriers, and cultural background (Theoharis, 2009). My major focus as a SJL is to empower and cultivate in my DACC colleagues in the advising center a passion for our students. A deep understanding of our students needs is essential in order to cooperate, and work together with a heartfelt passion to build a strong community college that practices equity and accessibility. By building strong relationships with our students and their families we can create a climate of belonging. This framework was provided in chapter I by Theoharis (2009), and is essential in sifting out bad practices, attitudes, established rules and guidelines, racism, and discrimination.
According to the authors, millennial students were influenced by a unique set of culture, such as hard work, supportive parents who desire the best for their future. Even with these positive qualities, millennial students also give difficulties to their teachers, counselors and the administrators at high school and college levels. An additional influence on the millennial students is parental involvement. Parents of this generation pay very close attention to their children’s academic progress and extracurricular activities. This commitment models the expectations for the staff and proves that I, as a principal, must strive to create a school culture that has a positive influence on life and learning in my school. The entire thought of developing successful learning communities in my school is a great challenge. I realize that I have much to learn and everything will not happen as quickly as needed. Change is never an easy process, but as I strive to build on the positive and eradiate the negative my focus will be to have a highly effective school with highly effective teachers. I found great value in
My Academic Philosophy I feel that education is in place to help students to fully achieve their goals in life. Students of today are our tomorrow. High school is here to help us set our GPA so that we can apply to a great college. When I entered ninth grade, I thought I knew what I was capable of, but I was wrong. As time went on I realized that I needed so much more.
Race to the Top discusses the goal of this new curriculum is to prepare students for college and success in their careers. The new rigorous standards will be implemented in every classroom and these standards will set the stage of what students are expected to know at the conclusion of each grade level. The Common Core State Curriculum will equip students with problem solving, critical thinking, and other skills that prepare them for college or careers in the 21st century. The main issues with the implementation of this change is the success rate of students in the low achieving schools and the implications on special education. The rigorous standards are continuous from school to school and are defined with essential skills students should know (MSDE,2012).
Fenway High School Essay In my opinion what makes a good school are the students, teachers, and principal. The reason I say those three things is because reason one they all represent the school and they have to work hard to make a school good. I said students because to make a school good the students who attend the school have to have good behavior with good grades, because a school that has good grades get more and more students to apply for it. I said teachers because they are the main ones who give us students our knowledge and education. And with good teachers come good students with good grades.
The goverment are focusing on post 16 options because they want to increase the quality of education available and ensure that all young people have the tools and opportunities they need to fulfil their potential so they are prepared for further education and work regardles of their background or life circumstances. By giving young people the options to undertake academic and vocational education including appreniteships and traineeships they are providing the skills need for life and work helping to create a more responsible, engaged and cohesive society. The post 16 options set out by the government are: •College •Sixth form •Apprenticeships •Employment with training One of the reasons for this change has been because of the governments concerns over the number of 16-24 year olds who have been classified as Neets. Neets are young people who are not in employment, education or training and are between the ages of 16-24. There is a number of factors that can contribute to young people becoming Neets
College students have short-term and long-term goals that they desire to achieve. Achieving a goal at any level would be a great accomplishment of mine. My objective is to work hard at improving my writing skills, having better study skills, and becoming an enhanced student overall. Once I graduate from GCU; I will have a higher level of communication skills, and confidence to become professional and skilled in all that I achieve. A college degree in Elementary Education is essential to me because I want to teach others the value of fun, learning, and the capability to be involved in exciting adventures throughout life.
Allowing teachers to teach beyond the test is what will allow students a much more vivid mind and give them a wide range of knowledge. Education leading to careers is America’s forte and can only get better by allowing students the ability to overcome that pre-determined goal of knowledge this act has placed on our students and teachers.
