St. Louis was founded by traders moving north and south on the river, and by explorers and frontier families from the eastern states pushing restlessly west. It is a place that is neither northern nor southern, neither eastern nor western, but the one place that combines traits of all. It has been both a destination and a gateway to other lands. The Arch is the place where a nation reached the great river and halted, staring across the water into wide, wild lands. In St. Louis, the United States ended and the wild began.
The architect selected to build the new capitol was Frank Mills Andrews. Andrews was a very distinguished and award-winning architect using the Beaux- Arts Style and included many classical French interior designs in his design of Kentucky’s new capitol building. The new capitol building was to be built on the same site the previous two buildings, but concerns brought up by the legislature, and the size of the proposed building were too big for the old site so a new site was to be established. Name : Thu Nguyen Title : The New Western History The Western frontier is arguably one of the most significant advances in American History that has lead to different interpretations by American Historians from different contemporary time periods. The work of Frederick Jackson Turner, “The Significance of the Frontier on American History”, describes the advancement of the west as a glorious and triumphant event. Alternatively, Patricia Limerick’s “The Legacy of Conquest” puts Western American History on the contrary side of the spectrum. Frederick Jackson Turner, considered to be the old western historian, lived in the mist of the late 19th century and early 20th century. According to Turner, the frontier had been the most important factor in shaping America and its character.
LEWIS AND CLARK The Louisiana territory was purchased on the 30th April 1803. It was a large area of undiscovered land. The US President gave mission to Lewis and Clark to explore the new land in order to discover elusive Northwest Passages and water routes to the Pacific. The purpose of this work is to favor and easy trades and diplomacies. They were also responsible to record and make scientific observations on the new territory, resources and activities along their journey.

“A new architecture, the great building – these were the goals of Bauhaus education as formulated by Gropius in the Manifesto” (Droste, 2002, p.40). Geometric shapes and functional style the Bauhaus heralded the modern age of architecture and design. Founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius and directed afterwards by Hannes Meyer and Ludwig Mies Van de Rohe, the Bauhaus is today considered to be the most important schools of art, design, and architecture of the 20th century. Dessau in Germany, a two hour train ride from Berlin; there in 1926 Walter Gropius built his higher academy for the arts “The Bauhaus”. For the inhabitance of Dessau, the building that rose up before the rise was a peculiar thing with its glass walls, right angles, and flat roofs.

The conception of the Channel Tunnel actually dates back to the year 1802 when an undersea tunnel linking France and England was proposed by a French mining engineer named Albert Mathieu. Since then, multiple proposals have been made, some of which have actually had work done, but each was aborted due to a multitude of reasons including political and financial issues, and also Britains fear of invasion. The Chunnel is actually thought to be the 27th proposal for a link across the English Channel. The proposal for the link was in high demand from both countries to improve their relationships, for high speed transportation of passengers and vehicles, and to increase trading between Europe which would establish strong development between the two nations.
Egypt is the Nile, and the Nile is Egypt. The river starts down south, fed by the runoff of the Ethiopian highlands, and heavy summer rains in the east African Lake District. These two headwaters are responsible for the formation of the White & Blue Nile Rivers, which join at Khartoum, Sudan. After that the Nile enters Egypt through the Nubian and Nasser lakes. The distance between these two lakes and the mouth of the Nile into the Mediterranean was of 938 miles.
