Henry had a very aggressive policy on France throughout his rein until he eventually decided on trying to become the peacemaker of Europe. Henry wanted to regain the lost territory in northern France so he could be seen as a Great War lord with visions of honour and glory but also to challenge Henry V’s title of the last great English warrior. The first sign of this aim being put into place is the first French war from 1512-1514. However the first expedition on June 1512 was a disastrous failure as Ferdinand of Aragon didn’t hold up his end of the deal for an allied invasion. This shows Henrys naivety in foreign policy and the other European powers were using him to benefit themselves whilst sending him to his downfall.
During the period 1812- 1822 many radical threats occurred and historians have been split on the level of seriousness they posed. Luddism arose from the recent development of machinery over taking people’s jobs and so people, known as ‘luddites’, would go round the country making a series of attacks on mills, breaking machinery. The nature of these Luddite disturbances has been the subject of debate within historians with three main view points emerging. Firstly, the Luddites were industrial hooligans, secondly that Luddism had purely economic origins and aims and finally Luddism had political as well as economic aims. The first two interpretations wouldn’t have directly effected Liverpool’s government; however, the final interpretation stating it may have had political as well as economic aims, leads people to think this may have been a serious radical challenge to Liverpool’s government.
The railways, particularly the Trans-Siberian railway, also gave Eastern Russia a link to Europe and Western Russia a link to the Pacific Ocean, which made it easier to export Russian goods. Therefore the Russian governments’ investment in railways was extremely successful in promoting economic growth. The Russian government was also successful in improving Russia’s heavy industry through the introduction of tariffs on imports. This clearly helped Russian heavy industry to expand as steel production increase eightfold from 1880 to 1905 and petroleum production increased over 2500% during the same time period. These tariffs, introduced by Vyshnedgradsky and continued by Witte, both increased revenue for the government and made
In case of an emergency an outer shell will cover these entry ways. Oh, and did I mention that these doors can outlast a blast from a tank. The exterior is constructed of reinforced concrete and brilliant white Vermont marble. The Capitol building and the Oregon State library were connected by underground tunnels used for electricity and heating purposes. Polished rose travertine stone line the rotunda, lobby and halls on the first floor.
Donald Sinclair 11/27/09 English 3° Cause and Effect: Quasi War The Quasi War was an undeclared naval war between France and the US that had many causes and effects. The main cause of the war was the signing of the Jay Treaty between the United States and Britain in 1794. Although it was a commercial agreement, France viewed it as a violation of 1778 Treaty of Alliance with the American colonists and as favoritism towards Britain (militaryhistory.about.com). France's response to this was to seize American ships trading with Britain, and in 1796, France refused to accept the new US minister in Paris. Another cause of the Quasi War was the fact that the French had captured over 300 United State ships.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, imperialism and colonialism were very active; supporting the Industrial Revolution that had began in the mid-nineteenth century. New technologies such as steam power, electric power, and factories required a lot of raw resources that could be found in new territories; such as North America and India. Existing nations had greater importance because they acquired the colonies which had the better resources they needed. The Nations needed to support and protect these colonies raising the importance of naval power in a nation’s military. This resulted in Great Britain becoming one of the dominant Great Powers, leaving other nations struggling to match the power of Britain’s navy.
After Columbus had discovered the New World in 1492, many countries in Europe began sending expeditions to claim land there in their name. It was a race to see who could conquer the newly discovered land and find its many riches. France was not going to fall behind, and after a rough start in South and Central America, it found its greatest success in North America. The French started their exploration in the new world in the early 16th century after hearing the many stories of the Portuguese and Spanish’s success. The king of France, Francis the I, sent an Italian man named Giovanni de Verrazano to explore the regions of what is now Florida and New Foundland in search for a route to the Pacific Ocean as well as wealth.
