A brilliant economic system was brought forth that is still used today in all parts of the world. Colbert was the inventor of this system, called Mercantilism, and he created it to bring wealth to the French and his king. The goal that Colbert aimed to do was to acquire gold for France. He knew France had to export as much as possible. This meant maximizing exports, so this Mercantil system said to sell as many goods as possible to
This occurred because of its geographical location, pitted in between Europe and Asia, who both had large economies based on trade. As Islam spread it drew more people into South Asia. With the influx of people, South Asia remained a center of trade in the world market. In 1750, South Asia’s economy was based on trade. This is important because it supported agricultural growth in the region.
The 17th century Chesapeake and New England established themselves as hard working religious colonies that provided structure still seen in the States today. They both share many similarities regarding economy, and relationships with Native Americans, however they differ significantly in their societal structure, motives for settlement, and religion. Both the Chesapeake and New England colonies depended on trade as the basis of their economy. The Chesapeake economy was based on the tobacco industry; by 1680 it was exporting over 30 million pounds of the plant to overseas markets. Tobacco production not only helped the colony grow prosperous, it also created new opportunities for over 90,000 immigrants who moved to the colony as indentured servants.
Not only did families tend to move to New England, but also the whole English group made the bolt to find a place where they could set up “a city upon a hill”, and become an exemplary to all who follow to live by as John Winthrop asserted to his Puritan followers . Contrastingly, the Chesapeake colonies only had profit and money in their mind, which pushed them to work, being agriculturally developed. To be specific, in Virginia, one of the Chesapeake colonies was first settled with the intention of becoming an economic powerhouse; therefore, the working-class, especially young men, mainly inhabited it. The average age of a man leaving for the Americas was only twenty-two and a half years old according to the Ship’s List of Emigrants bound for Virginia . The harsh conditions of the colony did
The discovery of the Americas was truly an amazing event because it opened up so many options for the people living in the European nation. Many English people flocked to the Americas to live in the Chesapeake and New England region. These two regions were supposed to function as one large region. But overtime, they developed into two separate societies. The reason for this split was the incentives of the people who were going to these areas.
This helped expand the colony and provide for a thriving trade. Persons in the New Netherland society were employees of the West India Company, which made it a company owned and operated business. This provided everyone, who was part of the society, an opportunity to make money and trade for goods. It also provided the chance for the company to pick and choose who would eventually come to the area from the Netherlands. With the opportunity for profit, the merchants that made the trip also had a chance to make a substantial salary, and even make a fortune from being an entrepreneur.
The Europeans guidance came from God and the Bible. The Algonquin also believed that all living things had spirits and souls, and should be treated with respect. The Natives thought of the Europeans as ignorant children because they couldn’t hear the spirits. The Natives gave more respect to the Europeans, than the Europeans did to the Natives because the Natives respected others and did not doubt their God existed for them. However, the Jesuits only believed in one God, their own.
The trade bought wealth not only for the British, but for the Kenyans as well. Like India, the British created schools and hospitals for Kenya, as well as infrastructure. For South Africa the British created a democracy, which ruled a lot, like the one in England. Another reason to be proud of the British Empire is it that they created America. They set up and maintained colonies, in which they supported and protected the well being of their inhabitants, and then when they believed that the colonies could look after themselves they would let them make their own decision.
The age of exploration came immediately after the arrival of Columbus to the Americas. During this era, there was an exchange of resources between the Americas and Europe that happened both intentionally and unknowingly. In this trade, there were both positive and negative effects partnered with the resources. In Jamestown, the townspeople knowingly, and unknowingly, made changes to the land around them that changed it forever. The settlers changed the New World significantly, mainly because to the production of tobacco and the introduction of new animals.
To summarize we can say that here again, Europe was the dominant nation because it gained on economic and social aspects. We can also notice the birth of a Columbian exchange: a trade between Africa, Europe and America whose main items where slaves, manufactured goods, raw materials and food crops. Here again the main continent who benefit from this trade was Europe. Finally we can say that from the encounter of these three continents the main winner was Europe because it got richer from the commerce and because it enriched its nutrition and its domination over the world. 3° What were the crucial initial developments in that
