The effects of cigarettes smoking.
I have known smokers for a long time, and my best friend is a smoker, but one will never know because she is a social smokers. She has always tried to stop smoking, but when she become stressed or bored, she eventually goes back to her same old habit. She was first introduced by cigarettes by her boyfriend who is also a smoker. Throughout this paper, I will discuss the effects of smoking and explain some methods that can be used to reduce the intake of cigarette.
Smoking increases your risk for developing blood clots and heart disease that can result in a heart attack, heart failure or a stroke. Smoking causes your arteries to thicken and your blood vessels to narrow. Fat and plaque stick to the walls of your arteries, making it harder for blood to flow. This reduces blood flow to your heart which may result in chest pain, high blood pressure, and an increased heart rate. It is important that an individuals get the information to help one quit smoking.
According the Centers for disease Control and Prevention, “tobacco use kills more Americans annually than alcohol, cocaine, crack, heroine, suicide, fires, car accidents, and aids combined”. These facts alone should open eyes to give up smoking, it will eventually harm the individual’s body, and they need to have a will power. Having a will power definitely plays a big role in the decision whether to smoke or not. As human all have some types of needs they want to fulfill.
Based on the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Motives, most individuals would fall into the belonging and love needs and the esteem needs. Most people feel that by smoking cigarettes, one would be accepted by their peers. Most individuals seek approval from their mates or peers. There are many health benefits of quitting smoking psychological and physiological effects.
