No books should ever be banned because for each book that is banned, there possibly could be one life lesson that will not be learned by the next generation. Censorship of books in schools and libraries is wrong for it limits what students can potentially learn. Books such as To Kill a Mocking Bird, Of Mice and Men, and others teach valuable life lessons, which is why they are considered classics. Books such as these are being banned for they have questionable material. In the same book introduction as the opening quote, Judy Blume wrote, “Those who were most active in trying to ban books cam from the ‘religious right’ but the impulse to censor spread like a contagious disease.
Maybell “caught” Norma Jean smoking which made Norma Jean realize that she was not a child anymore and she was a woman and she didn’t deserve to be treated like she did and realized that even before her mother caught her smoking that she was not happy. She then tells Leroy that she wants to leave him. She transformed from a stunted housewife to a fully independent woman. This change made Norma Jean stronger because she spoke her mind and accomplished her goal, which was to be independent. In the story A Rose For Emily, Emily, the main character struggles with her father’s death.
As a writer, journalist yet typical smoker, Ms. King condemned those people who hated smokers in American society in her essay “I’d Rather Smoke than Kiss” published in National Review in 1990. Ms. King drew readers’ attention to smoking issues by four parts as follows. First, She introduced herself a little bit about smoking, like when her mother started to smoke, how her “smoke-filled” (142) babyhood looked like, why she started to try a cigarette, how she enjoyed smoking with her lover. However, her enjoyment was fought against by the invention of the term of “passive smoking” (143) by some smoke haters. Second, Ms. King illustrated how smokers in America had nearly nowhere to go.
He/she is not there to solve problems for the survivor, he is simply a guidance counselor thus communicating that the client is the expert in her own life and the expert in her sexual assault (Harford, P.M., 2010). By bringing her story out of the dark and into the light through diligent work, the client sees how she has filtered her abuse, creating the profound impact it has had in her life. The client and therapist first deconstruct her story and then move to re-write or restructure it and assign different meanings,
Smoking is bad for heath “The Effects on the Brain After Smoking” by Laura Reynolds in ehow website. The author wants to give information how smoking affects the brain. In addition, they should completely just stop making women objects in their songs. I believe that if they did this then the rappers would get a lot of respect from the female fan base. In the essay: "Do Ask, Do Tell,” Gamson explains that it is a dangerous place to air your laundry while on a talk show. I believe that this is true because for example if one of your friends is venting or complaining about her drama, you might feel tempted to listen and encourage her. In addition, all a gossip needs is an audience, and by giving your friend that audience, you aren’t doing her any favors.
I knew the traditional way of telling him about the harm smoking causes wouldn't be effective. Instead I adopted a more innovative approach by telling him two stories about the "origins of tobacco". He has never touched a cigarette after that day. I always use these two stories to try and stop people from smoking and I must say I have been successful to a certain extent. (please excuse my exclusion of the two stories as they are too long to include).
Ashley was banal and benign while the girls had a reputation of ruining people’s reputation. Ashley did not even know why she hung out with them. She only meant to say yes because she wanted to be popular. Ashley would always change how she felt and what mood she was in. She could have been happy one moment and sad the next.
My mother use to smoke 5 packs a day then stopped and is now smoking again. She even complains about stress, and she coughs a lot but these are signs of bad health that smoking can cause. Every person I know that smokes cigarettes does it because it helps them distress and little do they know cigarettes only increase the stress and also psychologically distresses. So, should Cigarettes be made illegal? Although I am against cigarettes and it’s bad health problems, I disagree because why ban cigarettes when they shouldn’t have been legal to begin with, there are so many people already addicted, people are going to smoke regardless of what the law is, and the profits of Tobacco Company are high.
In my opinion, when the writer states that teenagers dare to involve with death threats, I am disagree. Actually, having a favourite idol will make them think wisely before doing something dangerous that of course may harm them. This is because they take the good examples of the idol as their spur to move on their life. Many girls admitted Bieber gave them support through unpleasant times like parent’s divorce, loss of someone close or just the hardships of being a teenager (William, 2011). In the second idea, I am agree with the writer as he states that girls incredibly wrapped up in relationships that are in reality are nothing but fiction.
