In the Essay: "Rap Music and the Demonization of Young Black Males,” Rose defines demonization as not having any morals, or cares in the world. On the subject of rap music, I think that Rap music does in fact make young black males look bad. The reason for this is because most raps demoralize women, and talk about money and drugs. In addition, If not one topic is brought up in a rap song, when the other is. I think that we could stop this type of demoralization by putting a law out saying you can only have so many explicit tracks on an album, and then the rapper will not get as much publicity for what they have been rapping about. I think that if rappers started rapping about things of value, and something that meant something to them, then the songs would be a lot more respected by not only woman, but their fellow competitors. In addition to this, if the competitors heard a new song by competition that wasn’t degrading or inappropriate, then maybe that rappers fellow rappers would want to put out a song or album that is not so degrading. All in all I believe that young black males would be respected an abundant amount more if they rapped about things of meaning in their life, instead of objects. In addition, they should completely just stop making women objects in their songs. I believe that if they did this then the rappers would get a lot of respect from the female fan base. In the essay: "Do Ask, Do Tell,” Gamson explains that it is a dangerous place to air your laundry while on a talk show. I believe that this is true because for example if one of your friends is venting or complaining about her drama, you might feel tempted to listen and encourage her. In addition, all a gossip needs is an audience, and by giving your friend that audience, you aren’t doing her any favors.
