Uriel Anguiano Mr.Mahaffey Wr 123 4/29/12 Are Asians smarter than other minorities? Ronald Takaki starts of in his small article really well and really catches my attention by asking a question. He’s article is called, “The Harmful Myth of Asian Superiority’. I picked his article over other articles because I find it more relevant to me. I will admit that I assume that Asians are smarter than any other race. To this day I think that Asians are one of the smartest of minorities if not the smartest. I believe that the reason why Asians are the smartest of minorities is because they are raised to work hard in everything they do and their parents enforce them to try a lot harder in school then other minority parents. I haven’t met a lot of Asians Americans but the ones that I have met have all been smart and I can see how one person can set the example to others and we stereotype people so when we think one Asian is really smart then we right away think Asian Americans in general are a lot smarter.…show more content…
According to Ronald Takaki most Japanese Americans men in California received the same total income of the average Caucasian man in the 1980 but only through more hours of work and more education. Even though a lot of Asian Americans are going to college and getting good educations and a good salary, most of them can see the possibility to get promoted but they can’t because they hit a “glass ceiling"- the obstacle through where higher positions can be seen but not achieved because of their ethnicity.
