When it comes to the topic of earning potential, I feel as though this is the main reason why people go to school to get their degree. It is a proven fact that bachelor degree holders earn nearly one million dollars more than high school graduates over the course of their lifetime. This is a huge number and anyone would be foolish to not take advantage of such a thing. A degree in communications has an average starting salary of around $45,000 per year, and a ten year average salary of around $72,000 (Students Review, 2012). So as you can see, it is not the highest paying degree, but definitely not the lowest.
A college degree often puts a person in a better position and demonstrates that he or she has the discipline to finish a task. Another cause for returning to college is to earn more money. It is common that college graduates make more money than those who only complete high school. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median yearly income for someone with a bachelor's degree is $55,432. In contrast a high school graduates earn $33,904, approximately a difference of $21,528.
I disagree with Caroline Bird’s view that not all high school students should get a college education because, as recent research has show, college graduates make a significant amount of more money than non- graduates. Recent studies have shown that someone working in a profession with only a high school degree makes anywhere from fifty -nine to sixty -six thousand dollars less annually than someone with a masters degree from any given college. That proves that although college may not be for everyone, a person still needs to go in order to make any kind of money to live off of. With the cost of living going up rapidly, it will be very hard to get by with only twenty- three thousand dollars each year. I agree that many high school students are not ready to go on to college.
On average the amount a student pays for college ranges from $8,655 to $29,056 per year which is a lot of money, but college provides education, opens tons of doors for career options, and college graduates earn more than kids that don’t have a degree. To begin, college provides education.
I believe it is because of money and competitions of universities. As soon as a rival university sets their price higher the other universities sets their price higher as well. Universities used to have the government help them financially but that help has reduced a great amount and the competition to get students has greatly increased. Schools are trying to build a better foundation for students to attend but with money being spent to make the university “look better” the price to attend goes higher. With the economy being so hard right now to get a “good” enough job to be able to afford to go to a major university is hard I think that many students should make their own business.
I was one of the lucky few able to retain my job but with much more responsibility and eventually I was grandfathered into a role as a Business Partner with the stipulation that I acquire a Bachelor’s Degree. The salary is good but the pay band is wide and my salary is at the lower quadrant because I lack a degree. Like so many other working adults being passed over for promotions I returned to college. As
Despite the wealth of Asian visibly and global reputation of the United States may have been tarnished over the past few years, this does not appear to be putting people off wanting to leave their homeland to settle in the United States. Over one million people from all over the world arrive to live across the US’ 50 states each year; economic, political environment, educational…is some of reason to make the United States become the world’s most popular emigration destination. Probably one of the most reasons is economic migration, as many people immigrate to the US to be the search for a better life, and an improved standard of living. The largest majority of people immigrating is those seeking employment and are of working age. They are hard worker, and most think it is extremely
The cost of high school education is not the same as the cost of college education. Also, some differences apply from an academic point of view. Typically the social environment also differs from high school to college which is a fact that can be related to the question of freedom versus responsibility. It is true to say that college is more expensive than high school. But it provides a higher education.
Of course, it was always also very expensive, so very few could afford to go. Times has changed. The prices of colleges remained high, but the importance of college education is different. Nowadays it is almost a requirement. There are still companies that promote only within, but even those positions usually require if not at least a two year degree, then proof of college enrollment.
Educated people tend to make better decisions, and are able to obtain better jobs and in return help pay taxes and build the economy. According to CareerBuilder.com positions that used to require a high school degree are increasingly being filled by college graduates. CareerBuilder.com has also found that 27% of employers have raised their educational requirements in the past five years, largely because they received a better return on investment from the college educated
