The average age of the soldier in Iraq is 30 years old so when you hear someone say to get our kids, boys, young men, out of Iraq, they don't understand what is happening over there. They are stuck thinking it is the same as the Vietnam War that had a draft. We didn't go into Iraq because of WMD. That was
He wasn't religious." More importantly, what was buried was the complex story of Pat Tillman's opposition to the Iraq war and the Bush agenda. Murdered in this fabrication and cover-up, therefore, was the real Pat Tillman. According to his father, "The administration clearly was using this case for its own political reasons. This cover-up started within minutes of Pat's death, and it started at high levels."
My View Of Sociology and Suicide Our fourteen year old son has struggled with severe depression and made an attempt to take his own life. We have him hospitalized in a long-term mental hospital. It has been the hardest time for our family as we try hard to understand why that he is suicidal The theorist that best supports my view of Sociology is Emile Durkheim, because his theory has opened my eyes to why suicide occurs, therefore, it has helped me to understand my son’s reasoning for his suicidal ideation. My deployment to Iraq had a toxic like effect on our son. He watched as I left and almost immediately, like the flip of a switch, was overcome with fear.
Effects of the Cliché “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” On the 11th of September 2001, the entire world was affected by the terrorist attacks on the United States of America. On the Sunday after these attacks, then U.S. President George W. Bush made a speech announcing his plan to “rid the world of the evil-doers” who traumatized his country earlier that week. Bush also inadvertently drew a parallel from this event to another event that traumatized many: The Crusades that took place during the Middle Ages. "This crusade, this war on terrorism is gonna take awhile” said Bush. The unintentional reference to the Middle Age’s Crusades George W. Bush made in his response to the 9/11 attacks was justly criticized as it connected the problem at hand to the violence of religious warfare, inflicted anxiety upon a vast amount of the world’s population, and holds a fearsome truth.
Iraq Prison Scandal In the year 2003 The Bush administration justified and led the American people into war with Iraq. The White house reported claims that Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein, had weapons of mass destruction and that the people of Iraq were living under brutal dictatorship from their leader. Ostensibly the war was to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction and eviscerate and remnants of Alqaeda and its affiliates. The war mongers of both sides (democrats and republicans), wanted someone or something to blame for 9/11. After selling their lies and plans for the war to the America people, congress had given President Bush carte blanche to bring justice to those who caused pain and destruction on American soil.
Eli Redd Heather Jensen GE217 Composition II 26-Aug-2012 My initial impressions of the painting were bad impressions. Seeing Francisco Goyas painting brought back memories from when I first deployed to Bagdad, Iraq back in 2007. It brought back memories about the troops and civilians that loss their lives during an invasion, or combat. The Shootings of May Third 1808 painting actually depicts a situation that happen a few years ago in Afghanistan where civilians were taking hostage, rounded up into a pile and then murdered. Till now, I never thought seeing a painting would take me back to those tearful memories of my experience I had overseas.
There were reports that some Japanese people were spying and developing a plan to sabotage the West Coast, however none of these claims were ever proven (Powell, page 135). The United States government became increasingly paranoid about this new problem and demanded action. On Thursday, February 19, 1942, President Roosevelt issued the Executive Order 9066, which called for mass evacuation of Japanese Americans on the west coast with the excuse of a “military necessity,” and that the Japanese “loyalties were unknown.” (Powell, page 132). Efforts were made to limit espionage or sabotage by the Japanese for national security. The government’s quick implementation of Executive Order 9066 in reaction to the public’s panic, not only was unconstitutional and violated Japanese American rights, but also resulted in needless effort and attention towards the internment camps, making this an act of racism, not a military necessity.
About a month an a half after the tragic attacks the United States government passed a new law called the USA Patriot Act, signed by President at the time George W. Bush. The USA PATRIOT ACT is an acronym that stands for Uniting (and) Strengthening America (by) Providing Appropriate Tools Required (to) Intercept (and) Obstruct Terrorism Act (gpo.gov). The PATRIOT ACT posses a greater threat to American liberty than terrorism itself. This is true because the PATRIOT ACT gives the government undemocratic power that is immoral to society, it directly violates amendments and there have been actual cases where the PATRIOT ACT harmed innocent people and was used unsuccessfully. Firstly, if the government of the United States tried to pass the PATRIOT ACT of 2001 today, they would have a much tougher time.
I guess with all the big picture planning someone forgot to place a 50 cal gunner in the rear gun truck. Before I go any further into the situation I would like to point out that my squad 249 gunner was chaptered out of the army two months prior to us deploying. Being that I was the lowest ranking member of the squad without a specialize weapon that duty became mine. I got to fire that weapon once at a paper target before we deployed. I was new to this army life, so I don’t think too much of them making me a gunner before
Military historians believe that a significant Japanese strategy of kamikaze attacks was overlooked during the wargames and US Navy had to scramble to cope with these attacks then. Unfortunately, these lessons faded away in the ensuing half-century, leading US security planners to underestimate the lethality of suicide attacks that lead to the cataclysmic disaster of 9/11[i]. Complex military operations of the present age involving vast array of forces and associated machines cannot claim success by accident. Military leaders spend years preparing for war, through deliberate and methodical training. Wargames immerse commanders in a situation where the enemy is highly trained, determined and unpredictable.
