Collage Application Essay Assignment In my past, I have made many good and bad decisions in my lifetime. The one I am most proud of would have to be my junior year grades. I decided to actually try and to see what kind of grades I could get; it ended up being that I could get good grades, and it wasn’t even that difficult. I decided to try because of my parents, sports, and most importantly my future.
Achieving success in college is not an easy thing to do. A handful of people succeed, but many fail and drop out. I have thought many times about dropping out, but realizing what college can do for me has helped me stay. Returning to school has been a dream of mines since I graduated from high school. The different job opportunity and having a better income to support me and my family would make me so happy. Quitting my job of 14 years motivated me to return to school to earn a degree. I want to have a stable and good paying job so that I can save for my son’s college as well. Jobs are hard to find these days, especially when they are seeking a High School diploma or a College degree of some sort.
I found myself to be very successful in that area until my junior year; when I realized some of those friends could not be trusted. As high school progressed and the drama plied up, I had to remain focused. This may have been one of the biggest challenges for me. Additionally time became an issue when I began playing sports. Attempting to complete the heavy workload assigned by my teachers all the while trying to uphold my social life, it was evident as my lack of attention began to show in grades.
Why I Took Summer School Some very important point were taken into consideration when I made the decision to take summer school this year. English 12 seemed like the perfect, foolproof course to choose because it would mean less work next year, a second chance if I get a terrible mark, and my undivided attention to a subject I don't excel in. Firstly, because English 12 is the only course with a provincial exam in grade 12, I'd love to get it over with. My grade 12 year is filled with difficult, time consuming courses like AP Calculus and AP Chemistry, and I need all the study periods I can get. During those periods I'd be able to finish homework or study for tests, leaving me more time to concentrate on all my extracurricular activities, sports and scholarship applications.
Compare and Contrast: College Professors College isn’t always easy and choosing your professors doesn’t make it any easier. History has always been one of my least favorite subjects and always found it a bit boring. But after failing it the first time, I knew I had to pass it the second time or I would have to pay higher tuition during the third attempt. I had to decide on whether to take the professor I had already took or choose a completely different one. An advantage I had if I chose the professor I had already took, I knew his teaching styles and how he graded.
I was always an honor and or A Student. When I went back to school a few years ago to get my first degree I started out with A’s by the time I had completed my degree my GPA was around 3.4. I have to admit toward the end I got tired and a bit frustrated. I believe if I had a higher achievement of motivation level like I had when I was younger I would have definitely maintained the 4.0 GPA. I don’t see this as a great disadvantage, why stress out endeavoring to be perfect all the time?
