The poet uses similes to make the tone more joyful. “Dogs barked and the children sprouted like dandelions on my lawn,” is a perfect example which compares the dogs and children to dandelions. It means that they appeared very quickly just like how dandelions grow really fast. Dandelions are also known to be happy flowers so this sets the mood in a more soothing and calming place.

Her use of sensory details is impeccable. The line “think of your hands, fingertips on the soft hair” not only makes me think about touching someone’s hair but makes me feel my smooth fingers brushing through soft silky hair. She uses a great simile when comparing the men’s eyes to the night sky. She shows her use for metaphors when comparing her mother to a white dove. My favorite would have to be the simile just because I can clearly picture in my mind that the eyes of this man can look like the dark black night sky.

While Denny is at work Enzo spends most of his time watching and learning from television (which Denny always keeps open for him) 'absorbing' what he can about Denny's greatest passion, race car driving — and relating it to life. He sees that life, like racing, isn't just about going fast. Using the techniques needed on the race track, anyone can successfully navigate all of life's tough experiences. Smoky Mountain High As I packed the family up in the car, excitement was running through my body, and thoughts of the mountains ran through my mind. It was a long trip from Florida every year, but it was worth the trip and plenty of time for excitement to build. Seven hours to be exact, but finally after that seventh hour of driving I made it to the winding roads of the Smoky Mountains. The excitement was almost overwhelming, but I knew I still had awhile before I could set around the campfire and relax and let all the stress melt away. Illustration Essay One of the best jobs that I ever had was working at Six Flags during the summer. The first day I started I thought it was going to a boring job and it will always be hot. Well I was wrong. Working at Six Flags was very entertaining. I got to descant with many people, got to ride on rides anytime I wanted to, and also when famous people came around I got to see them.
I will still continue to live my life as a normal teenage driver but more alert to the other drivers around me.
