Critically Analyse Two Social Work Methods and Discuss How You Might apply These Methods When Working with Service Users How Has Been Subjected to Domestic Violence In this assignment I will analyse 2 social work (SW) theories in relation to domestic violence (DV). The theories I will discuss will be Crisis Intervention and Task-Centred Therapy. I will demonstrate my understanding in implement these theories using the six national occupational standards (NOS) key roles in assessing service user’s (SU) needs, strengths and risks and the resources that will aid me in my action plan for the service user. I will also establish my understanding in promoting empowerment and anti-oppressive practice. Before any interventions can take place we first need to look at how SW assessments are carried out. Within SW carrying out assessments is an essential element of social work practice. (SWP) It is a common misconception held by the public that SWP is merely a series of well-meaning but otherwise uncoordinated activities (Haines, 1981). However, this is not the case as SWP is a highly organised profession. Social workers (SWs) need to have a good understanding of assessments and be aware of the different understandings regarding assessments as this would affect the way the assessment is done, how the information is interpreted and used and what plans are put in place to establish an end result. SWs also need to be aware of all the facts that are related to the difficulties a SU is facing and what needs are not being met. They need to find out for example how well they can communicate with other people, how they react to stressful situations and how they are able to cope with problems. By doing this it will reflect how the SW, work with SU, carers and professionals that will be included in the assessment and how they will perceive you as the assessor. There are four stages
