Harcourt Saunders argues that ‘health is a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being, not merely absence of disease or infirmity’ (Harcourt Saunders 2000, p. 7). Things that help define whether someone is healthy or unhealthy is determined by their circumstances and environment, factors that define the determinants in an individual’s health are; the social, economic and physical environment as well as the person’s attributes and behaviours. Some determinants can give a positive outcome on an individual’s health whilst other determinants can have an adverse affect on their health. Thirty minutes a day of physical exercise such as brisk walking or jogging for example: ‘or being vaccinated against disease’ (), these are protective factors.
By measuring health status and identifying the priority health issues for improving Australia’s health, the Australian government has identified the following priority issues for improving Australia’s health; social justice principles, priority population groups, prevalence of the condition, potential for prevention and early intervention and costs to the individual and community. These five priority health issues determine how governments and health authorities prioritise particular health issues, based generally on: how much they contribute to the burden of illness in the community and their potential for reducing this burden. These priority issues include: the health inequities experienced by certain groups within our society, our growing and ageing population and the high levels of chronic disease and other health problems evident in our society. Social justice is a value that favours the reduction or elimination of inequity, the promotion of inclusiveness of diversity, and the establishment of environments that are supportive of all people. It eliminates to the inequity in health, promoting inclusiveness and establishing supportive environments for all Australians.

You hear a lot about their needs to be more political planning regarding our health care policy. I believe their need to be more then analysis and striating the complex political and legal outlook of health care policy here in the US. There is a need more improvement and the only way the health care system and its policies are going to improve is by the implementation planning, feedback to our policy processes as we move forward. Organization will not always agree because of a different in perspectives.
