Henry mows the law, and his dad finds a few hairs when he’s done and punishes him by giving him a whooping. Chapter 43 is the last of the three excerpts we read. We read about Henry’s experience with alcohol, him and his friend Jimmy Hatcher went up to Jimmy’s apartment to steal a few beers from his mom’s refrigerator. Jimmy gets sick and passes out in his bed, a little later his mom comes home and Henry is certain that he will have sex with her. After she drops down her skirt he sees a wart on her inner thigh and rivers of flesh.
One night while Pat is sleeping he imagines Kenny G and starts screaming and hallucinating, his mum and dad wake up and try to help him to snap out of it, in doing so Pat accidently hits his mum and she falls to the floor. Pat’s dad becomes angry so he jumps on Pat and starts punching him, Pat’s mum tries to stop him, and when he does he says that Pat should go back to the hospital and that he shouldn’t have come out yet. The novel, Silver Linings Playbook, accurately portrays this disorder. Throughout the novel, the main character Pat Peoples struggles with the symptoms of his diagnosis and the effects that they have on his life. The story begins when Pat is released from a neural health facility. Once he is back in his parent’s home he attempts to gain his life back by reuniting with his ex-wife Nikki.
It starts with simple teasing by upsetting the daily routine and interrupting the therapy sessions. He makes a bet with the other patients that he can have Big Nurse cut up rough in a week. He tries to lift a very heavy shower room control panel to throw trough the window and escape to watch the World Series in a local bar. He fails but claims that: –‘But at least I tried.’ This influences the other patients to try and stand up against Big Nurse. On his first night he tricks Chief to reveal that he can actually hear.
Nick goes to the dinner party expecting a pleasurable experience but his awkward visit with the Buchanans, Nick goes home to West Egg. Nicks second visit was to the Buchanans apartment in New York, Tom forces both Myrtle and Nick to accompany him to the city. They go to the apartment where Tom is having the affair. They have a harsh, rough party with Myrtle's sister, Catherine, and a horrible couple named McKee. Everyone, including Nick becomes extremely drunk, shortly after Tom gives her a puppy as a gift; Myrtle begins chanting Daisy's name to irritate Tom.

In My Father’s Waltz, Theodore Roethke describes an episode in his childhood. In this, what seems to be regular, occurrence his drunken father comes home for the night reeking of alcohol and begins dancing with him? Roethke describes his father s hands as being battered on one knuckle and extremely soiled. They romped until the pans slid from the kitchen shelf (5-6). This made his mother so upset that she could do nothing but frown.
“Sexy” also tells the story of a young woman's futile affair with a married man. Miranda is the outsider in her relationship with Dev, secondary to his wife and incapable of living her own life since it revolves solely around the next time they'll meet. Through the innocent words of a young boy who unintentionally makes her realize the futility of her ways, she is driven to examine and re-evaluate what love is, until she is finally ready to let go. The first time they meet at a makeup counter is when Miranda discovers that Dev is a man to watch. She applied different makeups and creams just to stay in his peripherals longer; she had eyes for Dev.
This truthfulness however lands her in a bad place as she is disowned by her father for not professing her love. Gonerill and Regan are the complete opposite here as they show dishonesty in lying about how much each of them loves their father. As soon as their father has given them their share of inheritance they become ungrateful and no longer care for their father. ‘And in good time you gave it.’ Here Regan tells Lear that he took his time
In the play, Tom and Amanda were having a fight about Tom going to the movies so often, and when Tom was putting on his jacket, he knocked over Laura’s glass menagerie and glass shattered everywhere. “Laura clings weakly to the mantel with her face averted. Tom stares at her stupidly for a moment. Then he crosses to the shelf. Drops awkwardly to his knees to collect the fallen glass glancing at Laura, as if to speak but he couldn’t” (Scene 3) This glass menagerie was Laura’s way of escaping the real world, just as Tom escaped by going to the movies, and Amanda escaped by telling stories of her Blue Mountain days.
