Dynastic Cycle: Confucian Historians saw a pattern in 3 stages – “mandate of heaven” - stage one: wars that eventually lead to unification - proof that heaven has given the unifier the right to rule - the ruler consolidate his power, restores peace, & economic growth follows - the peak of the cycle is marked by public works & military expansion - the country (China) appears invincible - stage two: cycle turns downward - costs of expansion & and extravagance in court/government cause heavy taxes - energy of ruler pales (slows) - corruption & gossip in court/government - stage three: public works are in disrepair, floods, disease, rebellions, collapse - the last stage is also marked by a loss of morals in the court/government
Bartering had been common in medieval times which show how people resorted to previous looked down upon activities. Pensioners on fixed incomes suffered as pensions became worthless. Restaurants did not print menus as by the time food arrives…the price had gone up! The poor became even poorer and the winter of 1923 meant that many lived in freezing conditions burning furniture, or in some cases, banknotes, to get some heat. The group that suffered a great deal - proportional to their income - was the middle class.
Population growth and subsequent increases in economic activity are the catalyst for movement of people to common areas. In the case of Australian, towns & cities emerged as people emigrated from Europe; largely from the UK in the 18th and 19th centuries. Together in population growth, the growth in ideas and innovations lead to new industries and economics. From the time of colonisation, Sydney was a town with an economy based around the maritime industry. As it was located next to an ocean port, manufacturing and trade in commodities was central to its growth.
To what extent should the 1920’s in America be remembered as good times or bad times? After World War one and the Treaty of Versailles, America became an isolationist. This meant they isolated themselves from all the other countries and didn’t get involved in other countries problems, America decided to take care of her own problems. During the 1920’s the USA became the richest and most powerful country in the world as a massive economic boom had occurred. However in 1929 disaster struck as banks went bust and share prices hit rock bottom. The roaring twenties, the age of excess and the Jazz age.
At the end of Mao’s rule, Deng Xiaoping took control of China, and transitioned its nationalized economy to a capitalist market. Though the economy greatly benefitted from this shift, millions of people became destitute and the state of the environment became worse. One way this economic transition did not benefit the Chinese people is the standard of living. The state-owned factories “went bankrupt” and people’s “incomes kept falling”, and the unemployed were unable to support themselves and their families without
Only six months after Hoover took office, the economy collapsed and the Great Depression began. Many factors caused and contributed to the Great Depression of 1929. One factor would be the overproductions of many goods in the 1920s led to worker layoffs Another factor was that easy credit led to people spending more than they had, and it led to a rapid inflation that eventually caused people to stop buying. The Federal Reserve Bank, created in 1913, did a poor job which also led to the great depression. It did not monitor interest rates to help regulate the economy when overproduction and inflation had started to cause unemployment in 1928-29 and the economy seemed likely headed toward collapse.
For example, there was improved navigational aids, refinements in shipbuilding, better mapmaking, and new legal arrangements and accounting practices which made shipping easier and cut the costs of seaborne trade. Another major new navigational instrument that helped this enormous revolution was the needle compass. With the new sea-lanes booming with profit and trade, this began to change the entire agriculture around 1000 CE. This also gave birth to the growth of commercial cities. By the late tenth century, many of these new cities were the anchorages of the maritime trade.
David Lowe APUSH P.1 8/28/2012 On the 29th of October in the year 1929, the worst economic depression in American history started called The Great Depression. President Roosevelt(FDR) inaugurated in 1933, led a daring restructurization of the economic policy that was present in that time. The recovery of the Great Depression is one of the most significant events in US history because it shaped our countries economy into the current economy in which we have today by the 1st New Deal, created Act's that were beneficial and important to the lives of Americans by the 2nd New Deal, and it created a more beneficial perspective of the lives of Americans creating many beneficial programs . The New deal was a way FDR restructured the American economy thus recovering from the Great Depression. By the time FDR became president in 1933, the unemployment rate was at 33%.
The Great Depression The Great Depression was a horrible time of turmoil, hardships, and trials for Americans. It was a time when jobs were scarce, people were out of work. So many US citizens lost their homes, went hungry, and were left cold. Those who were fortunate enough to have jobs, made very little money. Necessities of life became a daily struggle.
Many factors caused the economic condition in America to change in the late 1920’s resulting in the Great Depression. These factors include World War One, individual debt, business failure, farming decline, banking failure, and the stock market crash. World Depression was caused by World War one because the demand for American products reduced after the war resulting in too much supply with limited demand. Production was lowered and jobs had to be cut, leaving many without jobs leaving many in debt because many people took out loans or stocks during the war. Many people did not have money to spend in businesses and businesses also took out loans that needed to be paid back.
