Healthy People 2020 I think is one of the most important move that the state should make in order to make the vision of having healthy Americans, including all migrants, ethnic and minority groups, by the year 2020. Though free service is not always the key to have access to quality healthcare the state can definitely find ways such as moving funds to have an affordable medical insurance to cover all Americans so that everyone in America can avail of healthcare services as the need arises to have better chances of improving health by making it available and accessible to ever individual at once. A smaller set of Healthy People 2020 objectives, called Leading Health Indicators, has been selected to communicate high-priority health issues and actions that can be taken to address them. These objective areas include: Clinical preventive services, environmental quality, Injury and violence, maternal, Infant, and child health, mental health, nutrition, physical activity, and obesity, oral health, reproductive and sexual health, social determinants, substance abuse and tobacco. To achieve the goal of achieving healthy American people by the year 2020, Healthy People 2020 have formulated a step in gradually bringing about change in the health status of the community by Mobilizing partners, assessing the needs of the community, creating and implementing a plan to reach the goal set and tracking the plan’s progress along the process (US Department of Health and Human Services, 2012).
As stated before, I believe in equality for all and I strongly believe that all people shall treated equally. In the civilian world society accept gays working in society, so why should the military be any different. The solider that I mentioned that I served with in the gulf war was eventually discharged shortly after we returned from serving in the war. The military spent all of that money training and grooming him to a solider and they put him and many more out do to his sexuality. At the time the don’t ask don’t tell policy was in effect, but soldiers were still being discharged.
This is a tactic which is used right through the text. The president also reflects on previous negative situations in America and compares it to more recent positive times. “...triumphed over war and depression.” And uses similes to paint a picture in the audiences mind of the extent of their journey. “from the depths of despair to the great heights of hope.” These statements reassure the audience and give them confidence that they can overcome these situations. Again Obama uses emotive language to appeal to patriotism.
I will now analyze the graphs. First of all graph 1 shows the number of positive phrases used by Barak Obama and George.W.Bush in their first inaugural speeches from 2005 and 2009. As shown above Barack Obama is slightly more positive in his speech than George.W.Bush. The attitude shown by Barack Obama is shown within the first couple of paragraphs, i.e. he uses words like “ humbled”, which is a transition verb, to create the image he is only human and shouldn’t be looked at any different than anyone else, the verb destroys the power of prestige of his position, this gives off a positive attitude towards the public listeners, to everyone is as equal as Obama not matter his position he is as President of the Untied States.
People are being treated more and more fairly every generation. Gay marriage, or even the thought of being gay used to be considered treason, but now is recognized, less frowned upon, and more accepted in our society. The United States government did not need to, in fact should not have tampered with this category, for time itself is the greatest cure and had already begun working its magic, mending the holes and sealing the gaps of our society and more importantly, this
Contrary to popular belief, the American Revolution did not bring about change, because the rights, class structure and government remained the status quo in the colonies. For the most part, the rights of the colonists did undergo a transformation because of the Revolutionary War. It is a widely held belief that the war was declared in defense of the natural rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Unfortunately, the war did little in protecting these rights. After the war, there was still no liberty for blacks; in fact, the colonists disliked the idea of granting freedom to Blacks that they refused their offer to fight on the side of the patriots.
Some argue they shouldn’t for reasons such as being a POW. I agree what they say about being a POW, but if they understand the risks, I believe they should be allowed to, if they are willing. I support the current policy on “Don’t ask, don’t tell” for homosexuals in the military. It is the best and safest way for them to serve in the military. Just because someone is gay should not stop them from serving.
I’m gay but I oppose “Gay Rights” as an entity of its own. I think the LGBT community needs to merge their struggles into the rest of civil rights. Now, some of you may be confused as to why I’m arguing against my own rights but I’m not, and I’ll tell you why. We need human rights, not gay rights. We need rights that protect all humans whether they are Asian, gay, blind, autistic, religious or whatever it is that the system wants to discriminate against.
Now you are left with a financial burden of a major illness and we all know that it can be very devastating. I believe that health care should not only be offered but it should be made affordable for everyone. The U.S should immediately adopt the universal healthcare because it will benefit us all and make life easier for everyone. As of today health care has become a controversial topic. After decades of failed attempts by democratic presidents; president Obama finally signed the health care reform in March 2010.
The Conflict of Gay Marriage in America PHI 103: Informal Logic The Conflict of Gay Marriage in America Part One – Thesis Because America is a country founded on equal rights for all, marriage is a right that must be afforded to homosexuals. Arguments against gay marriage are often supported by religious ideals. In America, where we have freedom of religion or freedom to even choose not to be religious, these arguments should not be considered when forming laws. To do so would not be just. Part Two – Argument “Not allowing gays to marry is discrimination because they do not receive the same legal benefits that married people do.
