Analysis of President Obama’s Second Inaugural Address President Barack Obama’s second Inaugural Address, I thought, was very revealing and focuses a lot on uniting America. He was very clear of his points. Although I thought it may not be as powerful, or as memorable as other inaugurations, this one to me, I thought would be one that is worth re-reading again because he did make a few promises. He talks about everyone being equal no matter your gender or sexual orientation. He talks about making health care more affordable. One of the parts that he talked about that really caught my attention is how he focuses a lot on the next generations. This I thought was very important. He made a very clear statement that gays should be treated equally by saying, “For if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.” Some people may disagree to that but I for one am for it. I believe they should be treated equally. There are many gay men and women in the military that has shed their blood for us and sacrifice their lives for our freedom but we choose to judge them still because of their sexual orientation. We shouldn’t judge the way they want to live their lives but judge what they can do. They are humans…show more content…
He mentions, “The patriots of 1776 did not fight to replace the tyranny of a king with the privileges of a few or the rule of a mob. They gave to us a republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed.” This I thought was hard evidence because it speaks about America not being a country ruled by a king but has given us a government that is for the people. The constitution has changed a bit and it has been working towards the people’s needs. Women being able to vote is one
