And besides, this is the sort of reaction you would most likely get from a guy when he is deprived of any female contact within a school environment. I say that this book should not be banned. Yes there is violence but we are used to it already. It seems immoral but people are allowed to have their own opinions. There may be a large amount of inappropriate language but we have heard it already.
Cristy Martinez Period: 07 Mrs. Zachan Language Arts November 01, 2011 The Catcher in the Rye The Catcher in the Rye should not be banned from schools. There are many schools who think that Catcher is a bad influence on teens however it is quite the opposite. The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger should not be banned from schools because teenagers can learn from Holden’s mistakes and teens are mature enough to tell wrong from right. Many parents are appalled and think that the book should be banned because of the profanity, teenage sex, and other inappropriate behaviors. However, there is a reason to all his misbehavior.
The book is the start of the monster’s abhorrence to man, as the monster thinks that he cannot fit in with people because he does not own any property and does not know he was born. So, the monster begins to believe that he is an outcast. I would replace this book with The Ugly Duckling. Ruins of Empires causes the monster to lose self-esteem. The Ugly Duckling is well renowned for creation of self-esteem in children.
Therefore unlike the Daily Mail, which delights in demonising teenagers, The Observer encourages people to “try a little love instead”. Indeed if everyone tried a “little love” it would not only support teenagers but it would encourage them to behave and to well at school which would ultimately make them more successful. In conclusion the representation of teenagers in the media is completely unfair and wrong. I believe that we should all give teenagers more support and less criticism, including the Daily Mail. Being a teenager is a very difficult process as your body dramatically changes and you are subject to over-whelming hormones.
Something seems out of whack here. Has it ever occured to the people who believe this that punishment in school is intended to show the child that they have done wrong? Besides which, I don't see dumb people having any trouble reproducing. Personally, they often seem to have less trouble. As a matter of fact, the repressed burnouts in high school who are constantly being embarassed by their teachers seem more likely to go out and have underage sex, or to drop out of school
Some people were against the idea of abstinence because they said this would put their kids at risk by “providing a fear-based program that gave children incomplete, inaccurate, biased an sectarian information”. A women from Planned Parenthood referred to it as a “trick” to the students (517). Limbaugh disapproves of this opinion, and says it is “absurd” since he believes that this approach is honest and provides student with information about health endangerment. Students will learn about the truth of a sexually active
Spanking and other types of corporal punishment tend to make children rebel. In contrast to other corrective methods that will easily teach them a valuable lesson. Children don’t think prudently like adults do. However, they do have a sense of fairness which doesn’t help when punishment is being issued. For the reason that the child may realize that he or she is being mistreated and unloved when punished.
When you are just acting on personal wants, and gains, the result is selfishness. Learning morals is the simple lesson on not being selfish and having integrity. The kids in the essay The “Values” Wasteland were applauded for the arrest of an alleged rape towards several early teen girls. They say the school never taught them the rules about sex. I find that hard to believe, and that no one can blame the schools for the illegal allegation towards the kids.
However, humans are sexual beings. Like all sexual creatures we have an instinctive sexual desire (Taflinger, 1996). Because of the nature of human beings, it is reasonable that students receive comprehensive sexual education combined with abstinence education, so youth can make informed reproductive choices, understand the risks of sex (and know how to protect themselves from those risks), and be active in promoting their own sexual well-being. Abstinence-only programs can be dangerous because students do not receive the information regarding safe sex and contraception. Studies have shown students who participated in comprehensive sexual education were no more likely to engage in sexual activity than a student who participated in abstinence-only programs.
If spanking shows no effect on my kids then I may start to take away their electronics because that is what society is so centered around today. If my kids are anything like me they will discover other things to do if their “toys” are taken away from them but with the added pain from spanking, kids will realize that its just not worth it. So I do believe spanking is a very effective was of punishing your kids if done correctly. I can see where parents frown upon spanking children because it can be see as abusing your kids but only if done incorrectly. A couple hits with a dry switch that only stings on impact will do the same effect if not more of one than using your hand.
