Some women “felt they were needed at home to raise families, crops for food and to fill the jobs that the men had vacated in order to serve their country.”(Suite101) Women’s lives on the home front during World War II were a significant part of the war effort for all participants and had a major impact on the outcome of the war. Once the men went off to war and left their jobs, the women that were single had a great advantage because job opportunities were everywhere. In the other hand married women had a tough time, especially if they had children. Hundreds of women worked in machine shops, welding shops, manufacturing plants, and also worked in war industries to make equipment for the war. New industries, naval, and army bases were being built during the home front.
There are hundreds of documented cases where women were caught fighting in the war. They’d get caught when they got injured and had to be stripped of their clothing when being treated by nurses and surgeons. They weren't punished or praised by whoever caught them. They were just treated and sent home. Women were very brave for fighting in the war.
Meaning since most men had gone to war, nobody else but women were able to fill men's daily roles. This was very important during world war II because the U.S. needed people to work on the unemployment jobs, especially the jobs relating to the war. This propaganda in my opinion is very convincing to women. Its convincing because women knew that if they didn't help, their husbands and family members might not return back.The picture displays the lady wearing a red rag on her head, the He is white and she is wearing a blue working uniform. World War I affected many people during its time of war. WWI was known as the war that ended without any country knowing why it started in the first place. From the mid 1914 to late 1918, the lives of women and men changed for the better. The war impacted the men who had to leave their job to support the battle and the women who kept up with the jobs in order to keep the war running. The women went from running the house to running the factory.
With the majority of the men gone that usually worked the factories and welding plants the United States needed to keep producing arms, ammunition, and other various equipment for the troops to continue they efforts. Thus women were encouraged by posters such as these showing that they too could help the country in this time of need. Needless to say, a great deal of women stepped up, were trained, and filled jobs that had, until this time, only been filled by men. Rosie the Riveter has made a mark on the American people and most of all the way in which the American woman is seen. Women were once only seen in homes cleaning and cooking and the era of Rosie was the first step in women’s rights.
Introduction In the American civil war, thousands of women were involved as volunteer nurses in different military hospitals and the battle field. Although social taboos prohibited women from working outside their homes, women sought direct and convention involvement in the civil war. They focused on participating in the national struggle and pursuing career opportunities in the military rather than the traditionally confined domestic support roles. Women nurses experienced the detrimental and depressing constants of the civil war, such disease, as mutilated bodies, amputated limbs as well as death. In addition, they offered invaluable aid to the wounded and sick soldiers as well as medical authorities.
The Role of Women in USA Women have changed from the past 100 years because they used to be housewives now they are saying their own opinions and standing up for themselves. Women are showing great responsibility that they can work as hard as men and get jobs and make it a career. Since men told their wives to cook, clean and take care of the children, women haven't be able to get paid when they apply for a job since 1920's. I believe that women have different qualities to men. Even though men usually get jobs, some women have standards that reach what a company is looking for.
The women in Dadi’s family mostly dominate the agricultural process and distributions, and also care for the household. The men, however, represent the family politically and dominate agricultural production. The role for men in Dadi’s family is basically to be the governing leader while the women work hard both in the field and at home. Many husbands expect their wives to perform labor in the field, fetch water and cow dung, and still have food and water waiting at home for them. Women’s Roles Throughout the history of the United States, women have held many different roles in social, political and economic classes. Before the Civil War, a woman had a traditional role in the home, working as a housewife. The fight for equal and voting rights started but was unfortunately not continued until after the war. With new technology and industrial advances, women’s roles in the work force increased immensely and obtained many new opportunities. Although before the Civil War, women rarely took a part in society, the war significantly changed women’s roles in many ways.
There are numerous areas which women have contributed too and countless struggles that they overcame which support the need for such radical and critical reassessment. One of the many struggles that the women of the frontier had to overcome was the stereotypical role of being the housewives. Many of the women had to endure strenuous domestic responsibilities. As the wives of the house hold they cooked, cleaned, washed, and repaired clothes as well as looked after their children. They managed the kitchen, garden, the orchard and the dairy through which they kept their families fed.
