Rock and Roll (rock ‘n’ roll) The roots of rock n roll were Rhythm and blues and country music, it came into popular music in the early fifties but is said to have originated in the late forties, because it was influenced by blues so much the instrument line up was usually as follows: - guitar (electric/acoustic), bass, drums and vocals (with occasional brass, similar to blues), because of its blues origin rock n roll often had a call and response section, and was mainly on accented off beats.
