Additionally, having a better income to support me and my family would be nice. Having more income each month would give me stability. It is important for me to be stable, I want to be able to have a decent job, something that is dependable, and one that pays. Without a diploma or degree you will not make it too far in life. One of the main reasons I have chosen to ho back t school is my family and their well-being. I feel like if I go to school and get an education then I can take care of them the way I need to take care of them. I feel like going back to school will have many good advantages as well as some disadvantages . Some good things is that I will be furthering my education and in the world we live in it’s almost required. Another advantage is that many more job opportunities will come and I will have a better selection then I do now.
So no, I don’t know why I’m in college. I just figured college is what comes after high school and that’s what I’m supposed to do. But what I have learned the past few weeks while being here is that even though I didn’t know why I was here initially, I hope it will impact my life for the better. I am sure that with more education it would open a wide range of opportunities. Education would also help me to become better with handling my financial situation. By being a better financially equipped individual I would be able to plan a future by having a job that pays more which would increase the savings to be able to retire later in life. I could be taught how to make much better decisions for myself to enable me to become financially stable. A good education by the right institution would open the window of opportunity by guiding me in the right profession to chase the better companies to apply for a job with a focused clear mind.
There are various reasons as to why I would like to attain an education. It is not easy in my region, being a single mother and living on a basic salary. The aim of obtaining a better job and being able to be promoted are just a few reasons why I am passionate about excelling in the academic arena. As long as I can achieve this, then I will be more than able to earn a higher income, thus landing me in a better position to support myself and my children. As a single parent, I had to put my educational goals on the back burner to raising my family. I excelled in High School, which helped facilitate securing a position with a firm in which financially allowed me to keep a roof over our heads, clothes on our back and food on the table. While furthering my education was always in the back of my mind, I knew at that point and time in my life, it just wasn’t in the cards. Fast forward 25 years: my children are all grown up and with the exception of my 16 year old, they’re all self supporting and out on their own. I now have the opportunity to fulfill my mother’s desire for me to continue my education and reach that goal I made over 30 years ago.
A College Education will give me a deeper sense of confidence and help me to improve myself as a professional in a higher wage earning bracket.
