Unit 1 P5 Participate in a one to one interaction in a health and social care context. Communication in a health and social care environment is very important. When communicating with work colleagues I must make sure that I practiced active listening, by doing this I was able to ask questions when the points they made wasn’t clear and for me to also give my opinion on the discussion. There were many one to one interactions that took place in the GP surgery that I worked at. When I started my placement at the surgery I was assigned a mentor for the day, she showed me how to operate the booking system.

All over the world there are doctors and nurses. Did you know that there are many types of nurses? I’m going to tell you about Licensed Practical Nurses. They are the people who help elderly people with their daily lives. They are the people who bring you into the exam room when you visit your doctor, or maybe they help the mother who is in labor.

She must collaborate with each members of the healthcare team in meeting the physical, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. I watched the nurse’s and talked with them about what they did and how they did it (and how much money they made). That was when I decided what I wanted to do. I wanted to be an ER Nurse. Prior to becoming a nurse, I had the opportunity to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist. I felt that would benefit me as I went to nursing school.
The importance goes further to the core of the problem focusing on the nurse and evaluating what is needed to be done in order to educate this patient group. The research problem involves nurses who are not comfortable discussing end-of-life issues with their patients and is identified in the first few paragraphs of the article. This is a significant problem nurses and doctors can educate, manage and monitor for these chronic patients. The purpose is not clearly stated in the study, but is inferred within the abstract of the article as well. Patients and families dealing with potential end-of-life issues is a very common problem in health care today.
We allow family to visit in our patient’s rooms, but if we are going to do anything with the patient that is going to cause them to be exposed, we ask the family to step out into the waiting room until the task is complete. In our intensive care unit, we admit all attempted suicide patients, patients with acute delirium, recreational drug overdoses and patient’s experiencing alcohol withdrawal. These individuals still require compassion and respect regardless of their mental capacities, financial status, lifestyle or social status. Coworkers need to be reminded from time to time that these patients are real human beings in a crisis of their life. Sometimes when nurses are busy trying to care for the patient, we forget to protect the patient.
The importance of this assignment is to evaluate group dynamics within the group that I was placed in during Psycho-social aspects of health, human interaction and communications seminar. Gibbs reflective cycle, Gibbs (1988) has been used throughout in order to effectively reflect upon key issues within group dynamics, Pears (2005) has also been used to assist with referencing correctly, knowing the importance of working well within a group/team in any healthcare setting, I was egger to enhance my skills in this area. The class was divided into groups, the group that I was placed in consisted of one midwife, and three adult nurse students including myself. At this point I was very nervous as I had never worked with any other healthcare professional
I sometimes have a weakness in the fact that I may be too honest with my answer and do not think before answering. I realize that when you are communicating with people, they really do not want the truth because it hurts and is offensive. I find that it is much easier for me to communicate, when I have knowledge of the conversation being discussed. I am very weak when it comes to starting a conversation and leading the discussion. I will avoid a conversation as much as possible when I have to present the information to be discussed.
