Elements of Religious Traditions Kevin Veliz Arriaza REL 133 11-28-2012 Joseph Pirrelli University of Phoenix Religion This world has been created and shaped on religion. We have read and seen documentaries talking about how many people have died over this word. Everyone has always wanted to be identified with something, people always have the urge to have something they call theirs. History has been written on religion, and will continue to be written for many years to come. Why has religion been the most important topic for hundreds of years, how can one book be the bestselling book in history? These are the questions some people ask, before they decide to let God in their lives. It is always when you are in trouble,…show more content…
They want you to respect your fellow man, your wife, your family; they want you to be a rigouts man or woman. They want to teach you to pray and ask God for forgiveness and they want you to live by their ways. In many cases they have a few books about it. One example would be the Catholic bible; they have the book of Genesis, Exodus, and even Psalms. I have been to a few churches out here in Los Angeles and many Churches involve music, clothing and other things that separate them from others. Also Native Americans use visual rituals to talk to their ancestors, and this makes them similar to other religions like Catholics who use Saints as vessels to speak to God. All in all religion is a beautiful thing and this is what keeps some of us sane, because without it many of us will go crazy because we don’t have a set of rules we need to follow. Religion for me is a very hard subject to talk about because I have seen what religion ideals make you do. I have had friends who I consider brothers died in Iraq because of suicide bombers and I have had friends ridicule and harassed because they are Muslim. I have learned to accept people from all walks of life, it does not matter what religion, skin color, or background. To me all are created equal, and I am tired of seen many tied because of what they believe is the right thing. Palestinians kill Jews, Jews kill them, Americans kill Muslims, Muslims kill non Muslims. It is an all out War right now because of Religion, and we need to stop and think what we are doing to our planet and people. Why can’t we be Cultural tolerant? God Help
