The masks in The Dark Knight are used to hide Batman’s and The Joker’s identities. The director uses the technique of costume to showcase the chaos and anarchy going on. The Joker uses hidden identity to cause panic and mayhem throughout the city and cause destruction and anarchy in Gotham City as well as to fuel his selfish desires, and to ‘watch the world burn.’ This links with the Heart of Darkness, as the masks are used as
The Joker: A Character Analysis Introduction to Psychopathology In the movie The Dark Knight, there is a gritty and dark portrayal of a famous villain called The Joker. The name The Joker is synonymous with the Batman series and is also known as one of his arch enemies. While the movies are centered on the premise of good versus evil, there is a much deeper story behind the actors and the characters they play. The Joker, played by the talented Heath Ledger, is a complex character that cannot help but be admired. He takes the viewer on a journey where the character is a robber, a murderer, a prankster, a blackmailer, a charismatic menace to society, a traitor, and turns killing into a game, all while making him a fantastic character to watch.
The Joker gives the power to the people to get what he wants, which is to create chaos by the death of many people. He wants to prove that people are just as corrupt as he is. Christopher Nolan makes a point that men have power like the Joker does but by the end of the movie no one ends up on top due to corruption. Power is also depicted in the film through the constant battle for power between Batman and the Joker. In the film Batman is presented with two opportunities to kill the Joker but he doesn’t even after the Joker says “I want you to hit me (kill me) ”.
Hedoes not set out into a fight without the thought that he is going to accomplish his goal. BeingBatman, he has to take on the biggest villains. His first encounter was with Doctor JonathanCrane, but when he wanted to manipulate others, he drugged them and was known then as theScarecrow. Following this, was the physcopath distinguished as the Joker, who was a bit moreof a challenge because the way he went about his plans were very abnormal. Batman had to bevery forceful when it came to either one of the villains until he beat both the Joker and theScarecrow.
Dorian Gray vs. Harvey “Two-Face” Dent Dorian Gray and Harvey “Two-Face” Dent are alike and different in many ways. Dorian Gray is the title character in The Picture of Dorian Gray. Harvey “Two-Face” Dent is a villain in Batman: the Dark Knight. Each man has a distinct, unforgettable appearance, although in very different ways. Gray is a “[…] brainless beautiful creature […]” (Wilde 2), Two-Face is not pleasant-looking, due to an unfortunate event; “[…] a vengeful mob boss hurled acid in his face…” (DC Universe) scarring his face for life.
We very rarely see past the badges and the colors. We can look into these people's eyes and seemingly look past all the cries for help, until they're finally let out of the bag and we're left disappointed and out of hope. "How could THIS person do THAT?" The Lieutenant (played wonderfully by Harvey Keitel) is a despicable person. He's a crack addict, a heroine fiend, an alcoholic and a sex freak.
Jack Nicholson has a history of playing evil psychopaths, however, in this film he played a stone-cold killer but was still a prankster. Ledger made the character of the Joker more real. Even though Gotham City is not a real city, I was almost able to believe it was while watching the Dark Knight, whereas in the 1989 Batman, you could tell it was a non-existent place by the characters. The Joker's laugh is another topic to contrast. In this subject, Jack Nicholson definitely takes the cake.
Bain and Hitler wanted to eliminate a certain group of people in each of their situations, to make their city or country better than what it currently was. In the movie The Dark Knight Rises, Bane a main villain in the film proclaims that his revolution's enemies are the rich and the corrupt, who he contends are oppressing "the people", and fooling them with myths of opportunity. By him trying to eliminate the rich and corrupt he is influencing the poor and criminals to join him in his destiny. Bane has many different public speeches, for example he has a speech that talks about “the people” running their own city and that “police will survive as they learn to serve true justice”. The speech helps create an army for Bane, people that fallow under him that want “true justice”, the poor and prisoners are an example.
For example Brabantio says to Othello “You’re something to fear, not to love. It’s obvious to everyone that you’ve tricked her, drugged her, or kidnapped her… Arrest this man as a practitioner of black magic”. Othello can’t be with Desdemona because he is not of the same skin color according to Brabantio. His race has a great amount of influence on how people see Othello. The way Iago and Brabantio see him as a witch or a beast.
“DMC: Devil may cry” DMC: Devil may cry is the latest instalment of the devil may cry franchise. Normally developed by “Capcom” this game is now in the hands of “ninja theory”. DMC: devil may cry has no connection to the previous games but shows the beginning Dantes exploits as a demon hunter. The story takes place in limbo city; secretly controlled by the demon king, Mundus and his demonic army. Constantly manipulating humanity through the comforts of life, Dante is a “badass” youth at odds with the demons that constantly hunt him and make his life a living hell for as long as he can remember.
