They can quickly fall behind from peers of the same age. They may find it difficult to interact and make friends with others who are more advanced. They may struggle with intellectual development memory and concentration. Delayed speech development A child who has limited or no speech could be a cause great concern. This would affect a child’s social and communication development as he/she would find it difficult to listen and speak to peers staff and carers this could also affect their behaviour possibly becoming frustrated and quite angry Whatever concern you have about a Childs development in any area, you should always share it with others.
2.2 Any form of prejudice and discrimination can have a severe negative effect throughout a person’s life. Being undervalued by peers can make a person feel isolated and lonely. A child’s confidence and self esteem will become less and less the more they are discriminated against. They will start not wanting to be involved in activities, stop putting their hand up to ask questions. This in turn will affect their learning and ability to interact.
It will also cause stress for the students because they will have a hard time learning there subject. With the increase of stress students grades Drop and some people would say they would become unreasonable adult figures when they grow up. Instead I propose that students should come after school and learn the subject
2). Instead of searching for a better educational environment, students look for better tests numbers. Lang Wood goes on by stating “Students can easily become discouraged and negative about education in general, which affects their learning ability” (par. 2). In addition to what Lang Wood believes, Stephens claims, students who are taking the test suffer from stress in result of worrying about passing it.
The environment of prejudice and discrimination will have a very negative impact on children. Depending on how long it goes on for, the child’s learning will suffer. They will not want to join in any activities, as this would draw attention to themselves, feel part of the class and won’t settle and be happy. So academically their progress will suffer, which is totally wrong as every child has the right to learn and be happy at school. Discrimination and prejudice can have a long term impact on any child.
Kids are no longer pushed to excel in schools. The school system tries to convince children that they are all doing well when it is not true. When schools allow students to retake all their tests for better grades, students will not strive for perfection on their first attempt. If they do not have letter grades or finals, it is difficult to evaluate student success. These policies will keep children’s feelings from being hurt, but if Eunice cannot do poorly, she has no motivation to do better.
If this is the case the child could start to under achieve and decide to not concentrate as hard on their school work. Doing this may also cause the child to act out in their class and disrupt other children’s learning, as the teacher needs to take time out of the scheduled lesson to tell the child their behaviour is unacceptable. B) How a health factor may impact on a child’s social or emotional development: A health factor that may impact on a child’s social and emotional development could be their height and weight for example: If the child is either short for their age of over weight they may experience a form of bullying from their peers, have a lack of friends at home and at school. This could affect them both socially and emotionally. Socially the child could be a loner or on their own during break or lunchtimes at
For example, Dyslexia (a condition where the brain has difficulty interpreting information) in children is often identified by the parents. However, parents that are unaware or poorly educated may not notice any problems, meaning their child will not receive the crucial help and support they need to achieve. When children struggle in learning to read, write and spell they will soon fall behind at school and other areas of their development will begin to suffer. For example, a child not diagnosed will frequently become frustrated with trying and give up. Then in an attempt to disguise the problem they are more likely to misbehave and disrupt the class.
For example... there are children who have parents who care about meet all their needs and sometimes confused wanting to give the material to show affection to their children and believing that that is the kind of attention they need. For example... There are children where parents are concerned about their needs and sometimes too much and they develop in the children an excess of attention and when they attend school they expect the same attention from their teachers and when they cannot obtain it creates conflict in the classroom and between classmates avoiding the good development of the activities. So it is important that the child or adolcente know its limits inside and outside the Home. Health.- It is important that a child has a healthy diet, sleep well, play sports, and do other activities that help them in their physical, intellectual and emotional development.
Some students who are labelled as not being intelligent will work really hard to ensure that they move up or achieve more than was expected of them. Labelling also creates competition, this works with setting and streaming as students constantly try to get into the next set up or maintain their place in their set as it is ‘not safe’. Finally, sociologists may disagree as they would say that there are many factors as to why a student may underachieve. They would say that there are other things that are more important including the home background of the child. If the child’s parents are not educated then it can be said that they may not understand the school system and may not support the school.
