Personal Narrative: My Native American Culture

I grew up in a town called Lewiston, Maine. We are faced with many different types of cultures. Such as religions, and ethnicities. I do not know if I have any defined culture. The only thing that I could think of is sports. My whole entire life I have played a sport. The first sport I ever played was baseball. But I eventually grew out of that then transferred into basketball, then to karate, then to football and now lacrosse. I have been playing lacrosse for approximately 7 years now. It has definitely changed my life. I learned a lot of life’s valuable lessons through the sport of lacrosse. I learned about pulling through when times get tough. I learned to never give up. It was played by the great Native Americans. They used this game to settle wars and disputes. It was usually played until the death. My grandfather is actually a part of a Native American tribe, and my great grandmother who has passed, was a Queen of a Native American nation. I would like to fo more research on my families Native American history. Coming to Husson University was a major change in my life. I still haven’t got used to the system yet. There are a lot more cultures and religions here than there are at home. I met a few exchange students and they told me some of their stories about the differences between their home country and America. It is hard for a lot of people and it is huge culture shock to a lot of people because we aren’t used to having this many cultures and differences in one community. I would like to get to know more of the exchange students and learn on the hardships and the differences they face while coming to the United States. I want to research their culture so I can make them feel welcome. What I don’t want to do is offend someone by doing something that is offensive in their
