I looked up and noticed this girl was moving towards me, she engaged into conversation with me and then told me she thought I was real good looking and that definitely was an ego booster, she then suddenly left and I never saw her again because that was my last summer school class. Part 2 Part 3 I lived in Algonquin Residence during my first year at the College. One night I was walking along the corridors and noticed one of my friends was crying. I asked her why she was crying, turns out it was a
Summary: The Miss Dennis School of Writing The essay “The Miss Dennis School of Writing” was written by Alice Steinbach, a freelance writer and a Pulitzer Prize winner. Alice wrote about her ninth-grade creative teacher, who gave her lessons not only on her writing but also on her life. Alice started the essay with a conversation between a reporter and her to recall Miss Dennis. The writer firstly supported the writing lessons Miss Dennis had taught her by recalling some of the sentences and stories of the teacher during her writing classes. Alice presented several skills taught by Miss Dennis such as asking them to pay attention to and to think about the things which are going on around them and telling them that good descriptive writing makes the reader see what the writer see.
Ansel started school, yet he was a poor student and hated going to school due to the great quake which scared him for life by breaking his nose on impact from the ground. Retelling the incident in her journal, Mary writes, “It is hard to write this, feeling as I do, afraid to set down what happened for fear of what comes next. I want to cry out, I will not stand for this, but I’ve stood for worse, that much is certain, and I’ve no right to speak now. Nor have I ever” (162). Mary admits that she is scared to speak out against what happened between her and Hyde. She claims she has stood for worst and she had no right to speak then and has no right to speak now.
When we watch the videos the teachers were thinking out loud and discussing the little voice in her head that tells her things while she is reading, like “oh I have no idea what I just read” or “hum I wonder who this person is?” or “wow that’s neat!”. The students were able to connect with her and start thinking about reading and listening to the voice inside their head they then wrote or discussed with a peer what they thought about the reading passage. A literacy activity I could do in my classroom would be a think aloud. I could explain exactly what I am thinking while reading a passage, then have the students read another passage and practice talking about what they read and where thinking to a peer. I could also incorporate highlighters or underlining strategies to incorporate note taking and thinking while reading into this lesson.
Name Changed Life In the “A&P” 19 year old Sammy who is a story all by himself is changed by three girls who enter his life as they walk in to shop at the local “A&P”. In which later on he decides to quit his job for these girls as a cashier at the local grocery store called the “A&P.” Realizing that he has made the decision to quit not only for himself, but the girls who inspired him not literally but figuratively quit to make what he seemed the right choice. In this short story, Sammy seems to have mixed opinions about these three girls who walk in. He sizes them up almost as they were all close friends and have known each other for years. Throughout the story, Sammy seems to become attached to these girls.

Therefore, he won’t do that in his writing because it may decrease the reader’s attention. Second of all, he concluded that he wasn’t appreciated the end of the book. He said, “The plot developments were outlandish”. According to that, it expressed him to avoid ending the story like that. Furthermore, there is the encouragement for him to write a better book: “I can do better that this.
We are so concerned with what we have to say or what we are upset about that we don’t listen to the other persons input. When a problem arises in a relationship you have to solve it together. You can’t try and fix it yourself because it just won’t work. The lack of communication can also lead to other reasons relationships fail, like cheating. Cheating is a symptom of lack of respect and communication.
