The story titled The Lesson, by Toni Cade Bambara, was a writing being told in first person. This person is speaking about an educated woman named Miss Moore, who seems to be trying to teach the writer and the peers of the writer about a lesson in life. The characters seem to be from low income and less fortunate families. The lesson I believe the educated women, Miss Moore is trying to get across by showing these great and amazing things to her students is that it’s not impossible to get or enjoy such luxury if they work hard to advance themselves, it is possible. Overall, after reading The Lesson, twice I would have to say I did not enjoy the writing.

Marian Evans Lewes, an English novelist, explains her path to becoming a writer to the young Melusina Peirce. Marian Lewes responds to a fan letter sent to her by an aspiring writer Melusina Peirce with a description of writing often unseen, unimagined, and undesired by writers. Lewes revokes the idea of celebration following the completion of a completed work.

Some instructional strategies that Mrs. Mills used in the classroom included reading aloud a picture book, guided reading sessions, and peer-reading. It was easy to tell that most of the students were receptive to the teacher and learning. However, I spotted one or two of the students just mimicking what other classmates where doing. Every one of the students I observed loved hands on learning, and Mrs. Mills took advantage of this every chance she could. She uses the constructivist approach to learning by using prior knowledge to enhance learning and scaffolding techniques.
Ms.Gruwell was very patience with her students and she did many things with them that seemed to help them out. She took them to field trips got, them stories about students who many of them could relate to, and also got them journals for them to express themselves in. That seemed to help the kids truly know that they aren’t the only ones who feel like they do now and they could finally open up. If Christy’s family weren’t so patient and his mom wasn’t willing to do new things with him then Christy wouldn’t be writing and drawing. Patience can really help out many people especially when they are trying to challenge someone’s
