It's also fun, and according to NutriStrategy, burns a lot of calories - significantly more than brisk walking.” (Bigelow) You’d be forgiven for wondering but stair climbing can have a significant and positive impact on an individual’s health over time. Unlike walking, which humans have evolved to do while burning minimal amounts of energy, stair climbing is classed as a ‘vigorous’ physical activity and burns more calories per minute than jogging. The benefits of regular physical activity are well documented and include: • Improved cardiovascular fitness • A stronger musculoskeletal system •
Marathon runners undertake intense training and require significant amounts of carbohydrates for energy. Carbohydrates are our first source of fuel broken down to form ATP for exercise. It is this energy that is used for muscle contraction, hence carbohydrates are an excellent fuel for exercise consisting of a long duration and high intensity. The body stores carbohydrates as glycogen in the muscles and liver, however its storage capacity is limited. By an athlete’s diet being high in carbohydrates, fatigue during the event is delayed.
Health Chronic conditions such as asthma can cause children to have time off school, infections like meningitis causes development delay. Disability Cerebral palsy can result in brain damage and can cause problems with mobility. Sensory impairment Hearing difficulties are one of the most common causes of language delay and speech problems in young children. Learning difficulties Down syndrome can result in development delay , learning difficulties and health problems. Family background can effect a child's development by the family's values the culture and the way the child is encouraged and cared for all can effect the child development.
Some ideas and theories in science meet with resistance. One of the examples when an idea is meeting with the resistance is immunization. More often children immunization meets with public resistance. As the vaccination of children is parents' decision many decides not to do it. Data published by NHS show that there is high number of measles reported due to 1-16 years old children who missed the vaccinations between 1990s and 2000s.
ADHD is one of the most common childhood disorders and can carry on through adolescence and adulthood. Symptoms include difficulty staying focused and paying attention, difficulty controlling behaviour and hyperactivity. Scientists are not sure what causes ADHD, but many studies suggest that genes are a factor. In addition to genetics, researchers are looking at possible environmental factors, and are studying how brain injuries, nutrition, and the social environment might cause ADHD. Children who have suffered a brain injury may show some behaviour similar to those of ADHD.
This goal can be measured by comparing it to the SMART goal methodology we discussed in class. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. This goal is specific because they must train and perform better each day to win the championship in the few weeks they had. It is measurable since they check each person’s time and how they progress, if one runner’s time doesn’t make it they get cut out of the top 7. Coach Newton always tells the boys however fast you run, run faster.
What I will be informing you about Autism is causes and risk factors, Symptoms as well as signs and tests, and finally Treatment for this disorder. VI. This disorder doesn’t just affect the person that has it, but his or her family also. Many families struggle to understand what causes this disorder and how they can treat their son or daughter to his or her needs. The situation varies from child to child, as autism isn’t the same in everyone.
The disorder covers a large spectrum of symptoms, skills, and levels of impairment. It ranges in severity from a handicap that somewhat limits an otherwise normal life to a devastating disability that may require institutional care. Nature of Autism Children with autism have trouble communicating. They have trouble understanding what other people think and feel. This makes it very hard for them to express themselves either with words or through gestures, facial expressions, and touch.
Among the many sports, the best choice for exercise is running because of its many benefits. One of benefits is that it prevents people from aging because swimming helps maintain bones and muscles. Bones have play a are very important role to the body, and the secondary lifestyle with lack of exercise such as working continuously with the computer for many hours can destroy bones because it makes them become weaker . To prevent this damage on bones, many people choose running to support their bones and make both bones and muscles become more firmer because when we are running, stress is put regularly on each side of the body. For example, a study conducted in 2000 showed that running might help men reduce cracking of hip bones.
My understanding of Autism has changed over the years I have worked in the care profession. There is such a wide spectrum to be covered such as the Classic, pervasive, high function and Asperger’s characterisms but I feel that all bring with them different degrees of problems not only for the people who have autism but for the families and carers involved. People with autism are often diagnosed with learning disabilities because they have problems with social interactions and relationships, they have difficulty sometimes with communication, language and their imagination effects the way they think, others also have sensory issues such as sight and sound ect; Autism can have a profound effect on families, especially when it has not been recognised until the person with autism is older, the families feel responsible and feel that they have let their child down, they feel isolated and depressed and need as much help and support as the person with autism. My experience of this is with the family of a person who I support who say they are always going in a different direction than they anticipated and their life is constantly a journey to find a new way forward. Learning disabilities can
