As a junior in high school, I am approaching some very big life decisions fast. Now is the time in my life where I am expected to start narrowing down career choices and looking into the right schools that fit my choice. I have decided that working as an OBGYN is a major possibility because of my fascination in the medical field and the mentorship I am involved in at Augusta health. After looking into this career more this year, I have discovered so many accounting factors. However, reaching the title of an OBGYN takes time, money and love for the career which is the reasoning behind this paper. The education and skills required to become an OBGYN are rime consuming and costly but well worth it in the end. First, you must complete a 4-year bachelor’s degree in pre-med, biology, or chemistry. Then the next step is four years of medical school with an additional few years of residencies and internships. To cap it all off, you have to pass a state licensing exam to officially be considered an MD and start practicing medicine in the real world. This amount of schooling is necessary because they need to be reliable and trustworthy for their patients. The most important skills out of the many needed in this career are communication and multitasking. As a doctor, you interact with patients and fellow doctors daily and are also thrown into hectic situations. Multi tasking is a much need skill because OBGYN’s are constantly on the move whether they are on call or are seeing patients all day in the office.
