However, they will be able to interpret the communication they’re using by using hand gestures, facial expressions or maybe body language. The personality can also affect the way an individual communicates.

The service user and the carer need to understand each other clearly in order for the service user to receive the best possible care. Successful communication involves the carer to speak clearly and to use phrases and sentences the service user can understand. We as carers can establish what each resident needs as an individual and can be sure that we are giving the correct help to those who are in need of it. Staff- Affective communication in the home affects the whole staff team in a positive way as everybody works well together and they know what their job roles and responsibilities are, they also know the different routines within the different shifts and are able to stick to these so the resident’s day does not become disturbed. It is essential in a workplace like a residential home to have efficient communication because without it the home would not run smoothly, and could have disastrous consequences i.e.
Communication between colleagues is essential, so that it ensures a continuity of care for the client, and all staff are aware of the current needs of the client.
