The voluntary health agency I chose to research is the National Kidney Foundation. The mission statement for the National Kidney Foundation: “a major voluntary nonprofit health organization is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation. National Kidney Foundation plans to improve the lives of everyone with, at risk of or affected by kidney disease. Since 1950 the National Kidney Foundation has given help and hope to all kidney patients, as well as the patients families. National Kidney Foundation helps in many ways, one is by having many offices located across the country. Other ways they help includes: public health education, early detection, research support, patient advocacy, and organ donation. National Kidney Foundation heaves responsiveness regarding the wellbeing of kidneys and the magnitude of early detection through the national "Love Your Kidneys" public service campaign, news releases, free brochures, local education programs, a toll-free hotline and an information-rich website. There are many ways one can help. One can make a contribution to NKF, take part in a local kidney walk or NKF Cadillac Golf Classic, or donate your vehicle to Kidney Cars. Kidney Cars program receives over 100 car donations. Kidney Cars has been in operation since 1983, and during that time over 685,000 people have donated their car, truck or boat to the National Kidney Foundation’s vehicle donation program. In order to donate a car, the car has to be whole, one must hold a clear title to the vehicle, one must disclose structural damage, have the year, make and model of the vehicle know the approximate mileage and general condition of the used car donation, one will need the vehicle identification number.
