Hao Sun Mrs. Tileston 9/12/11 Intelligence + Evil = Human Disaster As the 10th anniversary of the 9.11 attacks arrives, many people fear for another similar terrorist attack to happen. Some change their plans to avoid downtown Manhattan; some decide to stay home for the weekend. My mom called from China the other day and reminded us not to go to downtown Chicago, and especially not to go near Sears Tower. The whole world is getting nervous for the anniversary, fearing for a possible tragedy. The 9.11 attacks were such catastrophic disasters that the terrifying images still cast a dark shadow of grief and terror upon the world even after 10 years.
I’m not keeping track of time due to the rush of rescheduling everything. Finally I look at my watch and notice it is 7:00pm, no sight of Gwen, my client. I finally go to the ticket counter and inquire. Was told she was not on the flight, at that point I panicked. Rushed back to my car to call Gwen and see if she just missed her flight, and would be on the next one.
AL Qaeda and the Life of Osama Bin Laden On September 11, 2001, I was headed off to work in Seattle Washington. I remember walking through the hallways of the hospital before the clinic doors opened, and wondering where all my staff was. I called one of my specialists up and was going to chew them out for being late when he told me the news that the post was on lock down and personnel could not get onto post. I turned on the television just in time to see the second airplane strike the twin towers, and as I stood there looking at the television and watched the towers as they collapsed I wondered who could be responsible for such a terrible attack. Al Qaeda is a name that has brought fear to thousands of men, women, and children in the world.
9/4/09 Enc 111 Narrative essay “The Day I Totaled My Truck” This essay will narrate the terrible accident that I was in. As I was leaving my house my father told me to be careful driving because there was a tropical storm coming and he didn’t want me to get in an accident. My friend Josh wanted me to pick him up from his house so we could go to Jordan’s house. I went to Josh’s house and waited for him to eat. Jordan called me and told me to hurry up so I don’t have to drive in the storm.
On past Halloweens, the local kids have broken windows, and worse, so I need someone to stay there the whole night to make sure no harm comes to my building. I will pay $3000 for anybody willing to do this, but I must be completely honest and disclose the fact that previous house sitters have run out of the house in the middle of the night because they were convinced the house was haunted by ghosts. Some of them were so scared that they went completely crazy and had to be committed to a mental institution. If you have the courage to accept this job, please call me. –Dick Shore, 917-555-1221 Finish this story.
The war was changing so fast down range and so was our standard operating procedures and how we conduct them. During this time so much of the small details got over looked. Fast forward to February 12 2005, we are two days out from making the convoy from Camp Behring Kuwait to Camp Liberty in Iraq. The personnel flying to Baghdad have already been put on the manifest to fly from Kuwait to Baghdad International Airport, and the company commanding officer did not want to change that. I guess with all the big picture planning someone forgot to place a 50 cal gunner in the rear gun truck.
Recently I realized that the staircase going to my supervisor’s office was rotting away and I decided not to do anything about, but make sure I was careful on them. A week ago the staircase gave out and my supervisor fell down the stairs forcing him to retire because of the injuries he incurred. After my supervisor was forced to retire I was promoted into his position. The decision that I made by not reporting the breaking away staircase did not break any legal laws that I could get into trouble for. But now that all this has happened I feel pretty bad about what happened because I did not report the failing staircase.
The narrator condemns the “old bad world” that wreaked the damage: Barely a twelvemonth after The seven days war that put the world to sleep, Late in the evening the strange horses came. By then we had made our convenant with silence, But in the first few days it was so still We listened to our breathing and were afraid. On the second day The radios failed; we turned the knobs; no answer. But on the third day a warship passed us, heading north, Dead bodies piled on the deck. On the sixth day A plane plunged over us into the sea.
These spectators depending on who they are can totally sabotage your experience or make your day. Unfortunately, I was caught with a poor crowd and my experience was ruined as a result. This week I decided I would stay home and watch James Wan’s Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) on Netflix. Insidious is another horror film like Annabelle. I chose this movie so I could directly compare my two experiences and see how different my experience would be without the crowd’s disruption.
I came from Korea. I was 11 years old when I had to go to the airport. I was very sad. I had to skip the school. I didn't told all my friends I am going to United States.
