On the morning of September 11, 2001, I woke up with great confusion not knowing what all the commotion was about at home in my living room. As I got to school, my teachers explained to me that our country was under attack by terrorists. I learned that nineteen al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four jet airliners and crashed two of them into the Twin Towers in New York City, killing everyone onboard as well as others that were working in the buildings. At around 8:46 AM EST, American Arlines Flight 11 that was hijacked by the terrorists crashed into the north tower taking out the all the floors in between the 93rd and 99th floors. Shortly after at 9:03, United Arlines Flight 175 crashed into the south tower destroying everything between the 77th
Describe the life of the personality you have studied (2010 HSC) Born in Mannheim, Germany in 1905, Albert Speer was persuaded to take up architecture by his father who made a significant impact on Speer’s life. He pursued his architecture studies at the Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe in 1923 and graduated in four years later, two years before the Great Depression. He became Professor Tessenow’s assistant, a supporter of the Nazi Party in the same year, opening the door for Speer. It must be noted that Speer and his family were an apolitical family. Speer’s first introduction to Nazism was in 1930 where he attended a meeting which Hitler spoke at.
Pakistan's first official statement about the operation acknowledged that the raid was a U.S. operation but did not elaborate. Obama telephoned his Pakistani counterpart, Asif Ali Zardari, after the raid, and the two agreed it was a good day for both countries, officials said. Obama also called former President George W. Bush, whose administration was defined by bin Laden's attacks and the fight against al-Qaida, to inform him of the news. Afghan President Hamid Karzai said the death of bin Laden proves that the fight against terrorists should be focused not on his nation, but on
It then traveled through the D ring and into the C ring. CNN has some good footage from a security camera that captured the plane striking the ground. All 58 passengers, four flight attendants, and both pilots on board, as well as 125 occupants of the Pentagon, died. Although the blast from the plane and the toxic gas and heat from the resulting fire killed some people in their offices near the crash site, some people working inside the Pentagon that morning did not know that a plane had hit their building. Military and civilian personnel running up and down the corridors yelling for people to get out helped to save a lot of lives.
While volunteering to serve for his country he fought with skill and courage in many campaigns during the American Revolution, not many people know that the description above is for the man Benedict Arnold, who is best known for betraying his country. This book really showed him growing up, going off to war, and what influenced him to make one of the most historic decisions of American history. When Arnold was young his father didn’t manage the family’s money well, and they were financially ruined when Arnold was thirteen. This was a foreshadowing of things to come in Arnold’s future. As a young man Arnold volunteered for the French & Indian War.
Thomas Beller’s The Ashen Guy In Thomas Beller’s The Ashen Guy, he writes about the day the towers of the World Trade Center collapsed. I was working in downtown Minneapolis at AT&T on September 11, 2001. I was sitting in my cubical, collecting the information I needed to contact my clients for that day. I walked out of my cubical, when I heard my co-worker speaking frantically on the phone. I stopped to listen to what was going on.

During this, Sadat met with Gamal Abdel Nasser, who would end up ruling Egypt later on. Both Sadat and Nasser bonded very well and formed a revolutionary group that was designed to overthrow the British rule over Egypt and expel them from the country. However, before their revolutionary group succeeded, the British became aware of Sadat’s involvement which resulted in Sadat being arrested and jailed by the British in 1942. Sadat would end up escaping imprisonment two years later, yet in 1946 was caught and arrested once again; this time after being implicated in the assassination of pro-British minister Amin Uthman. Sadat would remain in jail until 1948.
Also an unforgettable achievement of Reagans was ending the cold war which had been raging all the way back since World War 2 and America’s fear of communisms quest for world domination. He accomplished this by reversing the policy of détente and stood firm against the Soviet Union and giving aid to the rebels battling soviet-backed Marxists from Nicaragua to Angola which was critical in the ultimate collapse of the Soviet empire and ended the cold war. Despite the fact Reagan was excellent at speeches his belief in peace through strength became a realization and in the long run an important achievement. Basically since the military was diminished during the Carter years Reagan had to think of a way to rebuild and strengthen our military. He accomplished this by reviving the B-1 bomber that carter canceled, starting production of the MX missile, and pushing NATO to push Pershing missiles in West Germany.
This leader was the former deputy who took the reins of al-Qaida six weeks after bin Laden's death. He was considered the "operational foreman" in the organization. Zawahiri has attempted to re-establish and increase the operation of al-Qaida and also reconstitute links to its global franchises, with uncertain results. Zawahiri had been described as lacking bin Laden's personal charisma and appeal in rallying new recruits to al-Qaida's banner and uniting disparate extremist groups. However, he remains a dangerous and tactical
