My First Apartment

Iesha Coston September 26, 2008 “My First Apartment” My first apartment was a challenging experience. I saved three thousand dollars and moved from Irvington to East Orange. I contemplated it would be easy to live on my own. However, it was not easier it was difficult. My apartment was the transition into my adulthood. When I received the keys to my apartment I deemed it, party time. I was ecstatic. Therefore; I did roughly everything that I couldn’t do before I had my own living space. Unfortunately, after spending frivolously I realized I had my priorities mixed up. I spent excessively on whatever I desired, forgetting I needed a living room set. As months progressed it became more difficult for me to maintain my apartment. Attempting, to keep up with my friends I had to have cable and the internet installed. It was entertaining, which resulted in a bunch of bills. It was stressful, l and in addition the house had to be kept clean. There was no one to help except for my girl or myself and that came with a different set of problems-stress. After living on my own for a while I had to do things differently. I changed from the immature young adult to a different level of maturity. I began putting in extra hours at work. I guess, I realized I had a big responsibility that called for major changes in my life. I had no choice but to adapt. I started being more responsible by paying bills on time, keeping the house clean, even registering for school to place myself in a better position in life. My first apartment made me a more mature person. In the end, I can say all my hard work paid off because I have a one bedroom in a neighborhood of my choice. However, I will not stop at just obtaining an apartment. - I will one day own my own home which will bring with it a different set of struggles and
