Vision, Power, Influence & Change: 4 Dynamic Elements in Effective Leadership! James Page MGT 380: Leadership in Organizations (BFJ1106A) Instructor: Stacey Taylor March 3, 2011 Vision, power, influence and change are the essential elements forged together in the development of a powerful team within an organization. Having personally been involved with several functional and dysfunctional teams, I have learned the importance of establishing diversity, communication, providing a vision, and maximizing individual talents leading to group cohesion, positive morale, and sense of both individual and team accomplishment. Throughout history, many great teams started with adversity and challenging circumstances which eventually led to their overall strength and unity reaching unsurpassed milestones. I will provide examples within this paper identifying outstanding leadership examples in present and past military scenarios that have contributed towards establishing and maintaining the most elite and efficient military in the world. The United States of America arsenal! The United States militia is comprised of much diversity ranging from gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and numerous other obstacles to include various upbringings and cultural values. Throughout the years, the military has nonchalantly transitioned from the strict compliance and procedure discipline to more of a corporation aspect focused on performance of soldiers (not quantity), technology, interaction/interdependence, and utilizing resources to meet the demands in a highly efficient manner. It is very important to understand, accept, and employ dynamics focusing on both team and individual strengths in this atmosphere.
