The town has live news so they are warned on what to expect. There were soldiers coming through their village and searching every house because they wanted to take young boys and recruit them. The family decided to go to Tepic where a house and job was set in stone for them and things would be more stable. They traveled there and slept one night at a very generous home until they were ready to head into Tepic. B) In the story Barrio Boy, Why does Ernesto’s mother take the piggy bank and wallet and place them in the hallow whole under the geranium planted in a five-gallon tin instead of taking both items with them to Tepic, and why does she have Ernesto help her trusting that he will not tell anyone about it?
With the working bow, he could catch and kill fish and birds to eat their meat and make feathered arrows. Later, a tornado hits close to Brian’s shelter and destroys his shelter and puts out his fire. It also throws his tools into the lake. He immediately works on making a new fire, knowing that fire is needed to survive in the wilderness: “He worked slowly, but even so, with his new skill he had a fire going in less than an hour” (Paulsen 150). With fire, he is protected from animals.

She also expects her to work outside of the meetings and to understand that things are not going to change overnight. In return, Freydia expects Jane to be considerate and sympathetic to her issues. She expects her to help her out to the best of her ability and always put hers’ and her children’s best interest first.
Cave, a senior citizen from Snyder, stated that Pearl Harbor was a depressing event for the world during 1941. Her and her family were getting ready for church and listening to the news on the radio when they first heard about the catastrophe. “We were contemplating going to church when the first bomb fell”, said Mrs. Cave. The attack lasted over a period of time. My family didn’t know if it was safe to leave the house.
Dreamcatcher Long time ago, in a native American village, the old and young people living there earned their own living and were regarded by other people as the ancestors of culture and life in America today. At night, when the storm bursted with a tremendous peal of thunder and a rush of rain, the strange and frightening dreams sneaked into the windows and stayed by the pillows on the children’s bed. Then children started having bad dreams every night. In the morning, people talked about the awful dreams which spreaded everywhere around the town in a short time like a plague. In the evening, with candlelight everywhere, a spiritual spider in the corner of the room heard the parents’ concerns.
Christmas was a joyful time for all of us, being stuck up on that mountain now we know why Mama and Papa always started their Christmas shopping early. My brother Joe came home once with a turtle he had found one summer, this turtle was a giant looking turtle, and Yep Papa helped Joe make a place for his turtle in his room. Papa took three old doors that we had taken down to replace, and nailed them together forming a long cage like for Joe's turtle, which was in the middle of Joe's bedroom because Joe took in the biggest room. Well we all went out and got food for Mr. Turt. (The turtle) now Mr. Turt ate all kinds of things even hot dogs was fed to him.
